Junior Camp Day 3: It was a sweaty hot one! We had the 4-H Rodeo, where we had 4 of our event winners from Montgomery County; Jaxon was the Steer Roping winner, Eli was the Barrel Racing Winner, Inayah was the Pole Bending Winner and Delaney was the Bull Fighting Winner. ( No real bulls or livestock were on site, just teens pretending!) We also had the camp crawl where karaoke and line dancing were popular picks!

Producers in Montgomery and Cheatham County are eligible to apply for 2026 Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) benefits on [small grain, native pasture, improved pasture, annual ryegrass, forage sorghum.]
Grazing acres must be certified with your local FSA office by July 15, 2026, if not already reported.
LFP provides compensation if you suffer grazing losses for covered livestock due to drought on privately owned or cash leased land or fire on federally managed land. If pasture is leased a Lease Agreement form CCC-855 has to be signed by both parties by the lessee and landowner.

To assist in gathering livestock inventory for applying attached is a livestock inventory worksheet.
2026 Montgomery LFP Worksheet Fillable.pdf
County committees can only accept LFP applications after notification is received by the National Office of qualifying drought or if a federal agency prohibits producers from grazing normal permitted livestock on federally managed lands due to qualifying fire. You must complete a CCC-853 and the required supporting documentation no later than March 1, 2027, for 2026 losses. Please contact the Montgomery/Cheatham County USDA Service Center at (931) 368-0252 ext. 2
For additional information about LFP, including eligible livestock visit fsa.usda.gov.

USDA Issues Second Supplemental Disaster Payment to Farmers, Extends Program Application Deadline to August 12
USDA Issues Second Supplemental Disaster Payment to Farmers, Extends Program Application Deadline to August 12
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)is maximizing disaster assistance support for producers by issuing a second Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) payment to eligible producers who have approved program applications for losses due to natural disasters in calendar years 2023 and 2024.

USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) has already provided $6.7 billion in SDRP payments to eligible producers. Additionally, USDA is extending the program deadline to give producers and FSA more time to address any program application changes that could impact payments. The original April 30 deadline has been extended to Aug. 12, 2026, for SDRP Stage 1 and Stage 2.

Initial SDRP payments were factored at 35%, but after further analysis, USDA is increasing the payment factor to 70%, meaning producers with approved applications will receive an additional 35% of their calculated SDRP payment. Future SDRP payments will also be made using a 70% payment factor.

SDRP Stage 1
The first stage, announced in July 2025, remains available to producers who received an indemnity under crop insurance or the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) for eligible crop losses due to qualifying 2023 and 2024 natural disaster events.

SDRP Stage 2
Stage 2 of SDRP covers eligible crop, tree, bush and vine losses that were not covered under Stage One program provisions, including non-indemnified (shallow loss), uncovered and quality losses.
