Pop Vocal Performance and YOU! - July 24-28 from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Get ready to spend the week having fun singing one of your favorite songs and learning how to use a microphone both on the stand and holding it too! You'll also learn about stage presence while being coached by a recording and touring artist. At the end of the week, you'll perform your song for your fellow campers, family, and guests.

Students ages 7-10 will meet during the 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. time slot.

Students ages 11 & up will meet during the 1 p.m.-3 p.m. time slot.

Music Camp - July 10-14 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

This camp is geared towards students ages 4-7 as a fun introduction to music! During this camp, students will explore concepts such as rhythm, high pitch vs. low pitch, loud vs. soft, and other age-appropriate musical concepts. Students will have a performance on the last day at 11:30 a.m.

We invite you to participate in our Summer 2023 String Camp from June 26th – 30th. We will have two different camps with Sinfonia being for students that are new (0-1 year) to ensemble playing, and Philharmonic for more advanced students that have more (2+ years) experience playing in an ensemble.

This year’s theme is “Disney and Movies and Broadway, oh my!!” Students will play music from Disney, movies, and even musicals. Each group will play their own pieces and then will combine to perform one piece of music together.

The camp’s cost for each student is $150. This tuition will cover ensemble classes, sectionals, music theory classes, technique classes, lunch provided the day the concert, and more!

Camps are listed below along with their dates, times, and any age requirements.

All summer camps cost $150.

String Camp
June 26-30 from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. or 12 p.m.-3 p.m.

The Sinfonia section of this camp will meet from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Monday-Thursday. This section is appropriate for students with 0-1 years of experience with ensemble playing.

The Philharmonic section of this camp will meet from 12 p.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Thursday. This section is appropriate for students with 2+ years of experience with ensemble playing. Both sections will combine on Friday to rehearse beginning at 8 a.m., with a performance at 12 p.m. Lunch will be provided on Friday.

Music Camp
July 10-14 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Piano Camp
July 17-21 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

This camp is appropriate for students ages 7 & up who have at least 1-2 years experience on their instrument and/or are reading both staffs fluently. During this camp, students will prepare a duet with their duet partner. They will also review music theory concepts, explore improvisation, and have the opportunity to participate in a master class with an Austin Peay piano professor. On the last day of the camp, we will meet at Madison Street United Methodist Church to learn about the organ and the harpsichord. Following the organ and harpsichord presentation, and a short rehearsal, we will have a performance at Madison Street United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on July 21st.

Join us for this fun group class for children ages 2-6 years old! The Elemental Music Class is meant to introduce young students to music through play using methods from the Orff Schulwerk approach. It will be most effective for those on the younger side who are already speaking. Classes will be offered in 2 six week sessions this semester. The first 6 week session will begin on September 9th, 2022. The cost is $90 per six week session. Classes are limited to 10 students each, so please reserve your spot today! Austin Peay’s Community School of the Arts to launch Clarksville Children’s Chorus with May auditions The new Clarksville Children’s Chorus at Austin Peay State University’s Community School of the Arts will begin its inaugural year with auditions on Friday, May 13, and Saturday, May 14. Children who enjoy singing can sign up for auditions at the chorus's website.

We're also excited to welcome Price Watson to our team this semester! Price is available for piano lessons and voice lessons!

Price Watson, native of Slocomb, Alabama, is an alumnus of Troy University (B.S. Music Education) and current graduate student at Austin Peay State University (M.M. Vocal Performance). His experience includes helping with musical theater productions, teaching and accompanying choral students, singing in choirs, and performing in operas and revues.
Mr. Watson has also had the opportunity to travel to various places in Europe and across the United States because of his studies in music. He has worked in Michigan at Interlochen Fine Arts Camp in the summers of 2018 and 2021 and in central Germany as an intern for Interkultur, a world-wide musical event management organization. As a teacher, Mr. Watson hopes to impart his knowledge and passion for music to his students.

Soprano Rachael Hall is from Hendersonville, Tennessee, and is in the second year of her master’s degree in Vocal Performance at Austin Peay State University. She studies with Dr. Sharon Mabry and performs as an ensemble member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church choir. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from APSU. With APSU Opera Workshop, Mrs. Hall has performed many roles from opera scenes including Adina from L’Elisir D’Amore, Magda from The Consul by Menotti, the Countess from Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart, and Norina from Don Pasquale by Donizetti. In The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan, she performed as one of Stanley’s Daughters, and in Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell she performed the roles of 1st Sailor and Spring. At APSU, Mrs. Hall is a recipient of the Sarah Kershner Lisenbee Scholarship, Ann Silverberg Award for Service, Performance Music Scholarships from 2017 to 2020, and the 2018-2019 Merit Scholarship. Mrs. Hall began teaching voice students in the spring of 2019 and has a passion for helping her students find their true voices. She seeks to help her students become creative, disciplined, expressive, flexible, and well-rounded musicians who will be able to navigate anything that comes their way.
