Students in Dr. Woltmann's Ornithology class visited Shelton Ferry Wildlife Management area this morning. 58 species were seen and/or heard, including 8 warbler species, 5 sparrow species, and Bald Eagles.

The Woltmann Ornithology lab has been studying White-throated Sparrows using radio telemetry and shared this interesting observation: "A while back I shared a milestone for my lab's work on White-throated Sparrows (the 400th-ish capture). This particular bird was fitted with a small fanny-pack radio transmitter that allows us to monitor and track them at our study site. We got 30 days of data on him from mid-November to mid-December, and then he disappeared. That's not unusual; birds leave, birds lose their tags. What is unusual is that he showed up again this morning! Where did he go? [birds handled under Federal, State, and Institutional permits]"
