One thing we hear a lot as a PTO is that when families donate, sometimes it can feel like the money disappears into a mysterious hole somewhere between fundraisers, meetings, and appreciation weeks 😅

So we wanted to take a moment to share just a few of the ways your support has directly impacted SMS students and staff this year.

Because of the generosity of our SMS families and local businesses, the PTO was able to help fund:

💙 Back-to-School Parties for both 6th and 7th grade students
💛 Scholarships for 6th Grade Camp families needing a little extra support
💙 Scholastic Magazine subscriptions for Science and Social Studies classes
💛 Support for our Positive Behavior Intervention program
💙 End-of-Year Wolf Day activities for all SMS students
💛 Teacher mini-grants that helped bring new ideas and experiences into classrooms
💙 And SO much more!

One teacher recently shared this with us after receiving funding for classroom games and activities:

“I wanted to share a small glimpse of the joy you brought SMS students this year! The games have been a huge hit - I used them for my executive functioning lessons in Academic Seminar, and we also initiated a weekly PAWS group to help bring peers together through the simple act of PLAYING. It’s been wonderful watching students interact with one another... and they come back to visit me often. Thanks for helping make my room the ‘fun’ place to be.

I appreciate your support year after year!”

That right there is exactly why we do this.

As we wind down this school year, the SMS PTO and SMS staff want to sincerely thank every family, business, and community member who supported our school this year - whether through donations, volunteering, attending fundraisers, or simply showing up for our students and staff.

Your support is appreciated more than you know, and we are committed to continuing to make SMS a place where students, staff, and families feel welcomed, supported, and cared for.

⛳️ RESCHEDULED, SMS FAMILIES! ⛳️

Due to the water main break, our SMS PTO Topgolf FUNdraiser has been rescheduled to Wednesday, May 27 from 6:30–8:30 PM at Topgolf Auburn Hills.

An email was sent to everyone who already signed up with the updated information. We know the new date may not work for everyone, but we’re hopeful it also gives more SMS families a chance to join the fun! 💙💛

🎟️ Reminder: Payment must be made by May 20 to secure the special $20 fundraiser rate.
🏃‍♂️Walk-ins will not be able to play at this discounted rate.

🥤 Unlimited fountain drinks, lemonade & water
🐺 Family-friendly fun for all skill levels!

Congratulations to all of our raffle basket winners from Friday during Staff Appreciation Week! We loved getting to spoil our incredible SMS staff a little bit last week - they truly deserve it and so much more. 💙💛

A HUGE thank you to all of our amazing sponsors who donated baskets, gift cards, products, services, and goodies to help make the week extra special. Your generosity means so much to our staff and PTO.

We also want to thank our SMS families for the incredible support during Staff Appreciation Week. From monetary donations, food, drinks, products, and desserts to volunteering your time on Teacher Helper Day - none of this would have been possible without you.

Our staff felt so loved and appreciated all week long, and that is because of this amazing community. Thank you for helping us celebrate the people who pour so much into our students every single day!

And finally… the SMS PTO Lottery Basket for our Last Chance drawing. 💙💛

Every raffle ticket that wasn’t pulled as a winner for the other raffle baskets was entered into one final drawing for this basket - giving everyone one last shot at ending Staff Appreciation Week with a BIG win. 😂

We had so much fun putting this one together, and we are officially crossing all our fingers and toes that the winner turns around and wins even bigger with it!

A huge thank you to Connecting Clarkston, Pine K**b Wine Shoppe, Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen, and Crispelli's Bakery & Pizzeria for helping us put together these fun Family Game Night baskets for our SMS staff during Staff Appreciation Week. 💙💛

Games, snacks, pizza, and a reason to ignore laundry for a few hours? These baskets felt like a win before the raffle even started. 😂

We are so grateful for the local businesses that continue to support our schools, staff, and community in such generous ways.

Self-care, treats, relaxation, and good smells? This basket is a recovery plan for surviving middle school in May. 😂
