Reminder: No Weekly PLC Early Release or Late Start Wednesdays for the 2026–2027 School Year

As families prepare for the upcoming school year, Clarkston School District would like to remind everyone that there will be no weekly early release or late start Wednesdays for Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) during the 2026–2027 school year.

Students will follow their regular school schedule each week unless otherwise noted on the district calendar for conferences, holidays, emergency closures, or other special schedule changes.

We encourage families to review and save the attached 2026–2027 District Calendar for important dates throughout the school year.

We look forward to welcoming students back this fall!

Students may have to leave the phone at home in Washington soon. Governor Bob Ferguson is working on a new law that would ban electronic devices in classrooms. Phones, tablets, and smart watches would have to be turned off and put away during school hours.

“It’s pretty clear that it’s a good thing. I know that there’s concerns from parents and others around being able to have access to children and students contacting their parents, but we’ll see what happens.”

Clarkston School Superintendent Dr. Thaynan Knowlton says local schools already have restrictions on when phones can be used, and studies have shown that distance makes a big difference.
