📚 Families of Students in Grades 6–8 — You're Invited!

Clarkston School District is beginning the formal adoption process for its middle school mathematics curriculum, and we invite families to join us for an IM Math Curriculum Parent Night.

The district is considering Illustrative Mathematics (IM), a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum already being piloted at Clarkston High School. Using IM in grades 6–8 would provide a consistent and connected math experience as students progress from middle school into high school.

At Parent Night, families will have an opportunity to:

• Learn more about Illustrative Mathematics
• Review the curriculum and instructional materials being considered
• Learn about IM's approach to math instruction
• Ask questions and participate in the curriculum adoption process

IM encourages students to discuss mathematical ideas, explain their thinking, listen to different approaches, and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics. IM 6–8 Math has also earned top ratings from EdReports in every review category.

Clarkston School District is seeking community volunteers to join the Clarkston Capital Projects Committee (CPC).

We are inviting interested community members to apply and continue the important work of reviewing and recommending a direction for the upcoming capital projects levy, including future options for Clarkston High School.

The Capital Projects Committee supports the district's commitment to ensuring every dollar spent is thoughtfully prioritized and allocated to achieve the greatest possible benefit for students. This work helps maintain a quality physical environment for student learning while remaining fiscally responsible to our taxpayers.

If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please complete and submit this application (also available on our website) by September 11, 2026. The selection committee will review all applications and select new committee members no later than September 18, 2026.

Background and experience that may be helpful include, but are not limited to:

-Effective listening skills and openness to all perspectives
-Ability to collaborate, compromise, and build consensus as part of a team
-Knowledge in areas such as construction, financial planning, or facility management
-Understanding of the importance of aligning work with laws, regulations, and district policies
-Interest in supporting students, staff, and the community
-A growth-oriented mindset focused on innovation and continuous improvement
-Committing to the majority of the meeting dates listed on the application (consistency in attendance is especially important)

📱 Did you receive a text message about Apptegy Rooms? It’s legitimate!

Some Clarkston families and staff received an unexpected text message directly from Apptegy today about a communication tool called Rooms. Because we had not yet introduced Rooms, we completely understand why some of you wondered if the message was spam. We appreciate those who reached out to check!

There is nothing you need to do at this time.

Rooms is a communication tool that may be used for specific groups and activities, such as athletics and other extracurricular programs. It will replace ParentSquare for these types of communications.

Our regular district communication is not changing. Clarkston School District will continue to send district announcements, alerts, and other communication through Thrillshare just as we have in the past.

If a coach, teacher, advisor, or other staff member chooses to use Rooms with your student, they will communicate directly with you and provide information about how to get connected.

We apologize for the confusion caused by the message arriving before we had an opportunity to share this information with you.
