Hey patrons & friends! I plan to do some more book buying for missing AmblesideOnline books, as well as some more for the Picture Book Preschool bags, now that those needing them for the school year should be done shopping, and I have piano lesson money coming in to afford them! Hopefully, I can get several in and processed for October's Open Library Day next Friday, October 9th!
We will be open from 1 to 4 pm central time at Clarkson Baptist Church. Hope to see some new faces!

The Room to Roam is a small publisher working on releasing lovely editions of George MacDonald classics.
I have bought a few for the library, and thought this worth sharing- they have the first five of Lewis’s top 10 most influential books available now. Links in the blog list 🔻

Below is C.S. Lewis’ answer to the question (posed to him in 1962 by The Christian Century): “What books did most to shape your vocational attitude and your philosophy of life?” 1. Phantastes, by George MacDonald 2. The Everlasting Man, by G.K. Chesterton 3. The Aeneid, by Virgil 4. The Temple...

Slow day at library since I had to change the date for September, but I did finish arranging the history and biographies into a sensible order! Not ideal, but sensible 📚

We are leaving hours earlier for our fall vacation than I expected, so I cannot hold library day on September 11 (second Friday).
September’s library day is now the 4th, just over a week away.
If you need another day, please contact me and we will work it out!

So much wisdom on her blog, including much about books!

“Many parents, in their enthusiasm to share their favorite books and movies, don’t realize they can be short-circuiting important pathways of the formation of imagination. Too much, too soon, can overload the child. “…

“Old stories have stood the test of time; they filter reality through delight and primordial symbol. They tap into universal themes while keeping close to what comforts. They stimulate without stunting.”

Be mindful of too much intensity

Library day today went well! I checked in and out, reorganized and realized I will soon be out of space again 😂 Maybe I can add a double-sided shelf down the center, 4-5 ft high… 🤔
