Today, our scholars had the incredible opportunity to hear from Rev. Slim, Grammy Award-winning songwriter and artist, and a proud native of Grenada, Mississippi.

Rev. Slim shared his inspiring journey as a self-taught musician who grew up listening to his father and other family members sing and play instruments. He even treated our scholars to a special song and played his guitar!

He reminded our students that Mississippi is an amazing place to live and the birthplace of many great things. While encouraging them to travel, explore the world, and broaden their horizons, he emphasized the importance of always returning home to serve your community, support your peers, and make a difference in someone else’s life.

Our scholars were captivated by his story and message and had numerous thoughtful questions about his journey, music, and experiences. It was a powerful reminder that success is not just about where you go, it’s also about how you use your gifts and experiences to uplift others.

Thank you, Rev. Slim, for inspiring our scholars to dream big, embrace their roots, and use their talents to make a difference!

COMMUNITY PARTNERS IN ACTION!

A HUGE Wildcat thank you to Clarksdale Public Works for responding so quickly to a need at Booker T. Washington Elementary!
Yesterday, our city workers are cutting back limbs from a tree that has been blocking buses from safely making their way around the loop.

What makes this moment even more special is that this solution started with our community partners simply being present and paying attention. On Monday, they saw a problem, listened to the concern, and immediately helped connect us to a solution.
That’s what community partnership looks like! When we show up, look out for one another, and take action, we create real change for our scholars and our school community. 💙
Thank you, Clarksdale Public Works, for your quick response, dedication, and commitment to serving our community! Your work matters, and we appreciate you! 👏🏽🌟
This is , community sees a need, community takes action, and community gets results!

Together, we grow!
