Why does attendance matter at DECS?

09/02/2026

🎶 …get THIS excited about music class. 🥁✨

Our second graders went on an Instrument Scavenger Hunt, exploring the music room, discovering instruments, and learning their names, sounds, and families along the way.

And those squeals when they found one?! 🥹💙

This is what learning can look—and sound—like: curiosity, movement, discovery, laughter, and kids who are genuinely excited about what comes next.

We’ll always make room to celebrate moments like these. 🐾🎶

Today, our 4th–6th grade Coyotes took their turn at our Book Tasting and sampled their way through different genres, explored new titles, and hopefully discovered a few books they can’t wait to read! 🐾📖

Our Book Tasting is officially complete, and we loved seeing students excitedly browsing, talking about books, and adding new titles to their reading lists. What a fun way to kick off Accelerated Reader and celebrate our year of literacy! 💙

A huge THANK YOU to the Clarksburg Library for partnering with us and helping make these two days such a special experience for our students. We are so grateful to have such an amazing community partner! 📚❤️

Hidden now, but not for long…
A piece of DECS where memories belong.
Painted by sixth graders, year by year,
Legacy murals we’re proud to hold dear.

A little blur… a little tease…
The big reveal is sure to please!
Stay tuned, Coyotes — the walls will soon tell
Stories and memories we all know so well. 🐾

First Annual DECS Spelling Bee 🐝✨

Last Friday, our 3rd–6th grade students took the stage for our very first Spelling Bee, and they were incredible! From start to finish, we saw courage, focus, and amazing sportsmanship.

We are so proud of every student who stepped up to compete—you represented DECS so well! 💛

This is just the beginning…we’re already looking forward to making this a tradition! 📚🐝

Clear the calendar. Hold the calls. 📚

The most important meeting of the day… storytime with students. When I find a great book at the book fair, I have to share it. Thank you and for our awesome book fair and the Grumpy Monkey book!

The best part of my day!! 💙Mrs Flores

Garden Club in the DECS garden today looked a little different… 🎨

Ms. Rae hosted a Claude Monet–inspired Japanese garden bridge painting session, and our students created some beautiful masterpieces surrounded by nature. Art and the garden make a pretty perfect combination.
