Sometimes the most meaningful victories are the quiet ones. 💚💛

A mom in our Emmanuel family recently shared this about her son’s first days at ECS:

“Middle school wasn't easy the last two years for Adam. Tonight I can say, this is the second night in a row that he did his homework (that wasn't even due the next day) without an argument. Emmanuel Christian School is already making a positive difference in his attitude toward school. I'm not going to be naive and say that getting him to do his work will always be this easy, but tonight I'm soaking up this win.

Not everyone will agree with school choice and the Hope Scholarship, but in the life of my child it is what his overall well-being needed. Without the Hope Scholarship we would have never been able to afford this opportunity and my mind and heart can't stand the thought of how my son would be doing without it.”

This is why school choice matters.

For some families, it simply means having the freedom to find the school where their child can thrive—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

We are incredibly grateful that Adam is part of the Emmanuel family, and we are praying that this is only the beginning of a wonderful new chapter for him.

Every child is different. Every family is different. And sometimes, the opportunity to choose a different educational environment can make all the difference.

Do brave deeds and soar, Adam. 🦅

AP Language got a little crunchy this week. 🥣

Students in our AP Language class spent the day exploring rhetorical situation through a hands-on cereal analysis activity. They examined mystery bags of cereal by sight, smell, and taste, then matched each cereal to its box and analyzed the packaging itself—colors, mascots, slogans, health claims, imagery, and all the little choices designed to influence an audience.

The goal was much bigger than cereal. Students were learning to recognize how carefully messages are crafted: Who is the audience? What is the purpose? What response is the creator trying to produce?

This week, they’ll take that analysis deeper through the rhetorical triangle—situation, purpose, and audience—and begin studying ethos, pathos, and logos, determining which appeals each cereal brand uses most effectively.

And from the cereal aisle, they’ll make a very classical turn: Aristotle’s Rhetoric, a work they’ll return to throughout the year as they learn to recognize, analyze, and ultimately use the art of persuasion well.

Fun? Absolutely. But underneath the cereal boxes is serious work in observation, reasoning, communication, and critical thinking.

And yes—marshmallow cereals were a hit. Fiber One was… less beloved. 😄

Now we want to hear from you: what’s your favorite cereal—and why? 🥣👇

Another dramatic classroom transformation! ✨

This one comes courtesy of Dean Whiston and her family, who put in the work to completely transform this space for the new school year.

Dean Whiston serves as our Dean of Students while also somehow finding time to teach American History, West Virginia Studies, Classical Studies, Latin, and our newest offering—AP Language! 😅

We love watching these old North View classrooms become new homes for our teachers and students. Another room ready for learning, discussion, and a whole lot of history! 🦅💚

There’s something especially satisfying about seeing this room filled with students and music. 🎶💚

Just a few weeks ago, we were sharing photos of a newly renovated music room. Today, it’s doing exactly what it was made to do.

In classical Christian education, music isn’t simply an elective or an extracurricular. It’s part of forming a well-trained mind—teaching students to listen carefully, recognize order and beauty, work together, and create something greater than themselves.

We’re grateful to the The Cultural Foundation of Harrison County for investing in music education at Emmanuel Christian School, and to Mr. Jones and Mrs. LoCasto at LoCasto Piano and Instrument Lessons for their continued support of our students and program.

The room was nice when it was finished. We think it looks a whole lot better like this. 🦅🎵

Thank You, Clarksburg Mission! 🦅

Our friends at the Clarksburg Mission have been there for Emmanuel again and again throughout our move. They loaned us their box truck multiple times, helped us move, sent a crew to patch and repair our stairwell, and came back just before Open House to help us clean and get the new Nest ready.

We’re incredibly grateful for their friendship, generosity, and willingness to serve alongside us.

Thank you, Clarksburg Mission, for helping us build the Nest! 🦅💚
