Montessori sandpaper letters are such a beautiful first step toward reading. 📚

Beginning with the S-M-A-T letters, children trace each shape with their fingers while learning the sound it represents. Over time, they begin isolating those beginning sounds in spoken words and matching what they hear to the letters they already know.

This hands-on, multi-sensory approach helps children move from concrete experiences to more abstract language skills at their own pace.

It’s a simple Montessori progression, but it lays an important foundation for reading, writing, and confidence with language.
