Basic Fire Police class on July 18th & 19th. 8 am to 4 pm.
This is a 12 hour program with both classroom discussions and demonstrations. Field evolutions will cover the use of traffic control equipment, personal protective equipment, and methods of conducting traffic and crowd control.

Students are required to complete the New Jersey Traffic Incident Management Program (TIMS) prior to taking this course. Students are also asked to bring a traffic control vest if possible. If an agency wants to bring traffic and crowd control equipment to the program, it is highly encouraged.

Topics covered during the program will include but not limited to:
Ethics and Demeanor, History of Fire Police, Laws Affecting Fire Police, Duties of Fire Police, Investigations, Note Taking, Documentation and Courts, Enforcement Powers & Arrest, Recommended PPE and Equipment, Safety Concerns, Incident Command System, Communications, Traffic and Crowd Management, Hazardous Materials, Skills and Task Books

Fee is $50. Prerequisite is New Jersey Traffic Incident Management Program (TIMS).

New course at the academy, Forcible Entry. Class will be held June 13 & 14 from 8 am to 4 pm.
The class will cover the basic forcible entry techniques for one and two person FE on inward and outward opening doors. Non-destructive FE techniques will be covered as well as FE using power tools. FE in narrow areas, limited access areas, low light and smoke conditions will also be covered.

Best wishes to Instructor Whyte. Mark retired this week from the Gloucester County Fire Academy after 15 years of teaching recruits and over 40 years instructing both fire and medical services personnel. Mark is also retired from the Deptford Fire Department and is a charter member of IAFF #3592. Congratulations Mark and enjoy your retirement.
