Daddy Powers Band: 30 years of rock 'n' roll, friendship and memories.

Once the sun sets on Saturday during Clark's Potato Days 2026, the familiar sounds of guitars, drums and laughter will fill the air once more. Between The Lookout Bar & Grill and Sportsman Bar, a hometown favorite will take the stage to celebrate a remarkable milestone: 30 years of making music together. However, the story of the Daddy Powers Band didn't begin on a big stage or in a recording studio. It started in a basement in Clark on Ninth Avenue in the home of Roger and Wanda Pletan, with secondhand equipment and a desire to make music.

Brothers Ryan and Steve Pletan had been playing guitar since they were young. Bill Henry Obermeier joined them with his bass guitar, and between the three the idea of forming a band began. "We realized we needed a drummer to get serious," Obermeier recalled. This search ended when the group convinced Jon Moeller to join them. Thus, in 1996 the Daddy Powers Band formed—paying homage to the hardworking, horse-handling Spring Valley legend Daddy Powers who once lived near Crocker. The band built its identity around contemporary rock 'n' roll, and over the years, they played at countless memorable events, welcomed people in their group, visited various towns and had quite the adventures in their infamous tour bus. Life might have taken the members to different places in the country, but this Potato Days in Clark, the Daddy Powers Band would like all fans and friends to gather, once again, around the stage in the community where it all began.

The Daddy Powers Band is pictured below at the Sportsman Bar in Clark during their very early days of making music together. The group's original members are at the back, from left to right: Steve Pletan, Jon Moeller, Ryan Pletan and Bill Henry Obermeier. Vocalists joining the group in front are Greg Derynck (left) and Paul Fuller (right). Photo courtesy of Daddy Powers Band.
