If you’re applying to college this year, now is the time to:
✅ Create or log into your Common App account
✅ Review your profile and application information
✅ Confirm your college list
✅ Check each school’s supplemental essays (many have been updated!)
✅ Start working on your personal statement
✅ Stay organized and avoid waiting until the last minute

Remember: While the application is now open, most deadlines are still months away. Take advantage of this time to submit thoughtful, polished applications instead of rushing in the fall.

Parents think college admissions starts senior year.

It doesn’t.

By the time senior year begins, many of the biggest opportunities have already passed.

Here’s what rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors should be doing RIGHT NOW:

📚 Freshmen
• Build strong study habits.
• Get involved in activities you actually enjoy.
• Explore interests instead of chasing a résumé.

🎯 Sophomores
• Start thinking about leadership opportunities.
• Challenge yourself academically.
• Visit a few local colleges just to get a feel for campus life.

📝 Juniors
• Build a balanced college list.
• Visit campuses.
• Prepare for the SAT/ACT.
• Start your résumé and brainstorm essay ideas.
• Show demonstrated interest where it matters.

🎓 Seniors
• Don’t wait until October.
• Apply early when it makes sense.
• Stay organized with deadlines, scholarships, and financial aid.

Here are a few simple ways to show a college you’re serious:

✅ Open and read admissions emails
✅ Attend college fairs and information sessions
✅ Connect with your admissions representative
✅ Ask thoughtful questions
✅ Apply Early Action or Early Decision (when it makes sense)
