We at Lion Manufacturing are excited to introduce our new CNC mill, generously donated by Charles Machine Inc.!
A CNC mill is a computer-controlled manufacturing machine that cuts and shapes 3D objects from materials such as metal, wood, and plastic. Unlike a 3D printer, which builds objects layer by layer, a CNC mill removes material from a solid block to create precise, intricate parts. Our machine is operated using a CNC program, typically written in G-code and generated through CAM software from a digital CAD design.
We had the opportunity to talk with several members of the Charles Machine team: Brent Miller, 30 years; Braden Miller, 16 years; Kurt Miller, 29 years; and Brad Miller, 35 years.
Charles Machine decided to donate the CNC mill to help promote the machining trade and give us valuable hands-on experience. Brent Miller explained, “The CNC mill is a job-ready piece of equipment and it will help the students serve customers in the best way possible.”
This donation will help us bring greater awareness to CNC machining while giving us the opportunity to develop valuable skills using industry-standard equipment. There is a strong demand for individuals with CNC machining skills, and learning how to operate a CNC mill can help prepare us for future careers and open the door to new job opportunities.
The CNC mill is a great addition to Lion Manufacturing. It allows us to learn new skills, explore a new area of manufacturing, and expand the possibilities of what we can design and create. We are excited to see how we can use this equipment to take our projects to the next level!
We are incredibly grateful to Charles Machine for this generous donation and for investing in the future of our students and the manufacturing industry. We are excited to put our new CNC mill to work and see what we can create with it!
