Clarendon College Ranch Horse Team Ranch horse is a competition that pushes you to improve both horse and rider, and do the best not only for yourself but for your team as well.

There are four parts the ranch horse competitions and they are: reining, trail, pleasure, and cow work. In reining you must teach your horse to change leads on command, come to a sliding stop, be able to change and maintain speeds, spin, and complete a pattern in front of a judge. In trail your horse must be able to go over or through any obstacle put in front you. You must be able to jump over anything up to 2 feet tall, you must also be able to control your horses feet and hips. In pleasure you must be able to keep your horse calm and take him through a variety of speeds while staying in the correct lead. Cow work is judged based on the horses ability work a cow by boxing it on the end of the arena

We need to thank WR Productions and Arena FX for helping us fix our dirt!! It feels clean, isn’t requiring as much water, there’s no dust and the best thing is it is way more versatile!! It’s going to hold for the barrel horses but have enough give for bull doggers. Then next week we’ll let it dry out a smidge and rein on it!!

Huge thank you to Carlos Washington's Steel
Horse Swing for sponsoring me for the Clarendon College Ranch Horse Team! Carlos Washington's Steel Horse Swing produces great music to listen to in and out of the arena! I learn more and more from Coach Holly everyday and can't wait to continue to improve my horsemanship and cow work!
Excited for a great year of showing! -Belita Martinez

Thank you North Fork Ranch for your generous sponsorship. I’m looking forward to another year on the ranch horse team.
Thank you also Mom & Dad for your nurturing support, my siblings for teaching me to be competitive and Grandma and Grandpa for always being such good business partners 😉

Durrett Cattle is our newest Rancher’s Scholarship contributor!! We want to thank them for standing beside us as we put this scholarship together.

The Rancher’s Scholarship is new this year for the Clarendon College Ranch Horse Team.

We are looking for local ranchers willing to support our team financially. I am working toward building a fund that would sustain itself and allow me to grant larger scholarships to second year students who have proven themselves to be assets in and out of the arena.

If you are interested in joining with us please contact Holly Irish @ 580-744-0891.
