About This Event
"First came the Battle of the Genres, then the Battle of the Giants, and now, it is time for the Battle of Film Music!"
My name is Alexander Vance, an Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 407, and once more I will put my eleven years of piano to work for a fundraiser concert, raising money to support student music scholarships.
My first and second fundraiser concerts, the Battle of the Genres (2024) and the Battle of the Giants (2025), collectively raised approximately $4,500 for CCSM thanks to YOUR generosity! I think WE can go even further this year.
On September 13th, 2026, the third battle, the Battle of the Film Music, will take place, and it will feature pieces that starred in various movies and series.
With your help, I hope to raise the funds necessary to fund music scholarships for students who would like to explore music yet do not have the means to do so.
All it takes now is people like YOU to help make these great things happen!

About The Artist
Alexander Vance is a junior at Claremont High School, and he has been a student of Dr. Barbara Durost at CCSM since 2018. He has also completed two years as the pianist and a percussionist in the Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra. Alexander has been taking piano lessons for eleven years and is a multiple-time Superior Rating recipient at the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival. He has also performed at numerous Mayor’s Recitals for the Claremont Community School of Music and attained Second Place in three separate categories of the Charleston International Music Competition. In addition to his classical pursuits, he is the pianist for the Claremont High School Jazz Band and Jazz Band Combo. His dedication to music extends to giving back, having successfully conceptualized and performed two previous solo charity concerts, The Battle of the Genres and The Battle of the Giants, raising over $4,500 in total for music education scholarships and to fund his Eagle Scout Project for CCSM. His third fundraiser concert, The Battle of Film Music, will take place on September 13th. As the 2026 CYSO concerto competition winner, he performed Beethoven’s Concerto No.3, Op.37 for Piano, 1st movement on January 31, 2026. His love for and discipline in his music studies extend to his academics as well as to being a well-rounded citizen: in June 2026 he earned his first degree adult black belt in Shotokan Karate at the age of 16 at the Defense Arts Center in Upland, and has been actively volunteering in his martial arts community by regularly teaching kids' classes at his school. At the age of 13, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and has continued volunteering in Troop 407 as a Troop Guide for young, incoming scouts.
