Why did you choose your instrument and what was the inspiration?
My sister showed me how to play Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater, which led to piano lessons. I picked the trumpet because I liked the way it looked and sounded, and it seemed more dominating. I picked singing because I love the sound of choirs.
What advice do you have for music students?
Use music practice to take a break from other worries and stresses. Experiment with sounds and rhythms because the greatest joy we have in music is when we create.
And are there any other tidbits of information you would like to share?
Take advantage of learning music! I cannot tell you the number of times I have heard adults express regret that they never learned to play an instrument or sing. Music will bless your life in a way nothing else can.
