This afternoon Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology Director Dr. Andrew A. Farke invited the Webb community to an “unboxing” of fossils found on this summer’s peccary trip in Wyoming!
Curious students, faculty, and staff gathered in Fawcett Library to closely inspect freshly unearthed fossils as Dr. Farke unpacked them into shallow boxes for viewing. Dr. Farke was joined by paleo research student Sebastian Hazlett ’24 who found a rare, important fossil on the trip.
All specimens were collected under permit from the US Bureau of Land Management

On the morning of the first day of school, the Vivian Webb School gathers in the founder's chapel for the signing-in ceremony. New students write their name in the enrollment book and receive a white rose from students leaders.

Today we bid farewell to our Junior Scholars including our wonderful students from Mongolia! This is the second year that we were able to host students from Mongolia as part of our collaboration with the Institute for the Study of Mongolian Dinosaurs with generous support from Museum Trustee and long-time supporter, Gretchen Augustyn.
As part of The Webb Schools Junior Scholar program, the students were introduced to paleontology and museum science thanks to their incredible teacher, Miss Billie Guerrero. They even helped to design a temporary exhibit now on display in the Hall of Life!
We look forward to continuing our collaboration for the years to come and helping support the next generation of Mongolian paleontologists!

Summer has finally melted the snow on the mountains near Webb's campus. Unusually wet weather brought snowy mountains to Webb's view for several months this spring.
Building community is at the center of everything we do at Webb.
Our fellows and faculty are delighted to welcome junior scholars to Webb!
Middle school students from around the world arrived at Webb over the weekend for our Junior Scholars Summer Program.
These summertime Webbies board on campus and choose from five tracks of study: Paleontology (taking advantage of our one-of-a-kind resource in the Alf Museum), Science and Engineering (utilizing our state-of-the-art laboratories), Digital Arts, Medical Science and Global Changemakers (leaning into our 100 years of work with putting honor and moral courage above all else).

Webbies meet at the Stockdale Community Center every day to study or spend time with friends. The community center is where we gather for student fashion shows, art galleries, movie nights, and more.
The building was a gymnasium upon its original construction in 1931. It transformed into the Hooper Student Center in the ‘80s after the construction of Les Perry Gymnasium. In 2020, the center underwent an extensive remodel to add a cafe, meeting rooms, water bottle refilling stations, and faculty/staff offices.
This year the community center was renamed to honor Taylor Stockdale’s 35 year legacy of building community at Webb. Read about his impact in the summer 2023 issue of Webb Magazine: https://www.webb.org/news/webb-magazine-summer-2023-now-available-online/
Thanks for the memories, Webbies.
