Pomona has a tight-knit and collaborative Art Department offering dozens of courses in painting, sculpture, digital media, and much more. Small class sizes allow students to work closely and develop strong relationships with professors as they develop their artistic abilities.

In Drawing I, students engage in peer art critiques, collaborate with other students on the weekly “Chalk Wall,” and explore Pomona’s Chan Gallery, an exhibition space for faculty, staff, students, and other contemporary artists. Professor Mercedes M. Teixido leads the class.

Professor of Art Mark Allen audited the drawing class this semester. He also showed his classmates around his exhibition called "FROM THE DESK OF."

Allen said he found joy in the “peer-ish relationship with other students” he’s been able to develop by taking the class. “I’ve really enjoyed it. I kind of want to take more classes now," he says.
