Challah I Recipe

Hopefully everyone is staying safe and healthy! We miss you all so much! We wanted to share with you a challah recipe, as well as some flavor suggestions, so that you can make challah at home!

Flavor suggestions:
Taco challah (can be vegan) - cook up some ground beef (or other meat/meat substitute of your choice) and beans; coat dough with salsa and add fillings; pinch dough, roll, and bake!

Sushi challah (can be vegan) - coat dough with smashed avocado, add fish/cucumber/fillings of choice; pinch dough, sprinkle with rice, and bake!

Sriracha challah (vegan) - coat dough with sriracha, pinch, and bake! (For when you don't have a lot of time/ingredients!)

Cheddar mashed potato challah (not vegan) - boil potatoes, add butter, milk, cheese, mash until smooth; coat dough with mashed potato mixture, pinch, and bake!

Kale challah (vegan and really good for you!) - spread kale on dough, pinch, and bake! You might want to add some kale on top for some extra flare ;)

Cheesy hotdog challah (not vegan, vegetarian, or kosher - make at your own risk) - boil some hotdogs (we recommend Hebrew National), cut up into bite size chunks, add some cheese, pinch, and bake!

Challah I Recipe This is a Jewish egg bread, often braided for a beautiful presentation. Top it with sesame or poppy seeds or try adding raisins to the batter for a special touch.

In order to do our part in keeping our community safe, we have decided to cancel sales this week. We hope to be able to return the week after spring break, but we will keep you updated with more details.

Last Week of Challah!

Help us come up with flavors for our final challah sales on April 30th! The last day to submit flavors is April 29th AT NOON!

ALSO. The SAS email says that sales THIS week (4/20) are in Seal Court, but this is a mistake. We are excited to be selling at the Sustainability Fair on the lawn outside of Malott! COME BY AND SAY HI!!!

Hi everyone! There will be no challah sales tomorrow, but we'll be back two weeks from now. Have a wonderful spring break!

Come out this Friday to get fresh challah and give back to the community!

We are hosting a drive during our next two sales for Crossroads, an organization that provides a home for women who have just gotten out of prison. Crossroads is in need of:
-Stationary, envelopes, stamps, pens
-Bath gel, body lotion, body spray
-Scarves, gloves, socks
-Coffee mugs
Those who donate will get a dollar off their challah. If you would like to read more about Crossroads and their mission, check out their website at crossroadswomen.org!

Hello Challah lovers! Due to some issues with the dining hall we have had to postpone sales, however we are excited to announce our first day of sales will be Friday, October 20th!!!

While we are ramping up for sales we will be making new and funky Scripps Challah for Hunger Gear, and are hosting a Scripps Challah for Hunger logo design competition! If you are interested in creating Scripps Challah for Hunger logos that can be printed onto stickers, shirts, hats, bags, and more, please send your design to [email protected] by October 10th with the subject line “CfH design competition”. You can send in as many designs as you want, but please make sure they are very clear and high resolution, and that they say somewhere on them “Scripps Challah for Hunger”. The winners of our design competition will receive free Challah and free gear! Can’t wait to see all the beautiful designs you come up with!

Attention all challah volunteers!! Don't forget we have a meeting tonight at 7:30 in the Browining Living Room! We will be giving an introduction to the club and what our year is going to look like! All are welcome (bring your friends!). There will be snackies!!

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us this year. With your help, our organization donated $6985 this year!

To celebrate we will be handing out FREE Matzah brittle at our sales table courtesy of Kehillah Jewish Dialogue Group. (Special thank you to Ilana Weisberg for ensuring everything is Kosher for Passover.) Gluten free and vegan options will be available.

Scripps Challah for Hunger will be selling HARRY POTTER challah at 11 AM at the Scripps Sustainability Fair on Elm Tree Lawn! We will have small sizes for $3 and large sizes for $4. Enjoy FIRE WHISKEY, BUTTER BEER, CHOCOLATE FROG, and BERTIE BOTT'S EVERY FLAVOR BEANS inspired challah! Traditional Plain will also be available.

Claremont Colleges Fighting Cancer will be tabling with us at sales today so be sure to stop by their table as well! If you sign up for their Dance Marathon fundraiser, which will take place on April 14th, then you will get a dollar off a challah. All proceeds from their event will go to Children's Hospital of LA.
