Effective Friday May 31, 2019 University Toastmasters will be meeting at
Carnegie Building (part of Pomona College)
425 N College Avenue
Claremont, CA 91711

From Indian Hill Blvd, turn east on Fourth Avenue. Building is on southwest corner of Fourth and College. Note that College Avenue doesn't go all the way straight through. So if you're heading DOWN on Indian Hill from Foothill, better to turn east on Fourth Street.

Walk up the stairs and turn right to the classroom.


We had a great Open House on Nov 2. Five guests and 3 signed up to join as new members. Yummy breakfast. Icebreaker speeches from our two newest members.

Come to our next regular meeting on Nov 9. Speakathon on Nov 16. Dark on Nov 23 and back to regular business on Nov 30.

Come visit us this Friday, October 26 for our Speakathon. Speakathons with a theme is a unique feature of our club. Listen as our members speak 5-7 minutes on the following Political Theories.

Then visit us again on Friday November 2. This will be in our regular toastmasters format of two prepared speeches, Table Topics and two peer evaluations. Also a Breakfast Potluck Open House. We meet most every Friday morning at 7:11am for about one hour in Room 22 of the Peter Drucker Business School. Email us at [email protected].

Do you consider yourself patriotic? Are you prepared for a disaster? Do you love chocolate? These were just a few of the topics that we discussed at our July 7th meeting. The word of the was day: Patriotic. Table Topic: Patriotism. We heard two prepared speeches. One on disaster preparedness and one on the history of chocolate, because July 7th is National Chocolate Day!!! Yum.

It's Toastmasters contest season and University Toastmasters showed a strong presence on April 8th. Our club members not only competed in the contests, they participated by serving as Contest Master and Contest Chairs/Coordinators. Way to go University Toastmasters members!!!

Our annual Academy Award meeting was held on February 24th and what fun we had! Members review the movies nominated for Best Picture and members vote for the best speakers. Three of our club members received their own Oscar for Best Film Summary, Best Critique, and Best Theme.

February 17th meeting recap. Two speeches, one on taxes and one on pet peeves. The Word of the Day-Whiffler (noun)-A person who shifts opinions, interests, etc. Our newest member and meeting topic master Ashley Morgan conducted a fun table topic on Resolutions. Our next Club meeting will revolve around the Academy Awards. Come check it out!!

Some DELICIOUS tummy-warming beef strew, chock-full of potatoes, carrots, onions, beef, and spices, was enjoyed at our February 10th meeting. Club member Gary Happs provided the stew after his instructional speech on how to prepare it.

We also celebrated February birthdays at this meeting. Club member Jerry was our only February birthday. He blew out the candles on a fresh Mango Supreme birthday cake. Yum!

Every meeting is a learning experience at University Toastmasters! The word of the day at our Oct. 28th meeting was Ignominy-(noun) "Public shame or disgrace". Several speakers cleverly incorporated the word of the day into their speaking roles. Congratulations to this weeks winners: Best speech-Debbie, Best table topics-Pat, Best evaluator-Christian.
At University Toastmasters you will never suffer from ignominy while speaking because we are we are a supportive club. Come join us and have fun while improving your communication skills!

Club members Sheila and Christian represented University Toastmasters in the Division A, Area A, Humorous Speech & Evaluation Contest held on October 22, 2016 in Fontana. They both did an amazing job and walked away with a second place win!! Congratulations Sheila and Christian!!


University Toastmasters will not meet on Labor Day weekend, Friday September 2nd. We will resume on September 9th. Visitors are always welcome. A fun place to practice your public speaking skills in an encouraging environment.
