Happy first day of spring semester 2016! The School of Educational Studies is hosting a "double feature" of great lectures this Thursday, January 21st at Claremont Graduate University. Cheryl Crazy Bull, President and CEO of the American College Fund, will give her talk at 5 pm as part of the Daryl G. Smith Diversity Lecture Series. We are also pleased to have Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billlings deliver a talk titled "On Race and Mentoring" at 7pm. Both lectures will be held in Albrecht Auditorium and are open and free to the public. Teacher Education alumna Robyn Rosebear Iraheta's middle school students are in need. Over 90 percent are economically disadvantaged, 35 percent are English Language Learners, and over 75 percent qualify for free or reduced lunch. They're also in love with Max, the protagonist in Rodman Philbrick's "Freak the Mighty." Robyn is raising money to purchase books for her students so they can finish the series and understand how one self-deprecating character can overcome his learning disability, the death of his beloved best friend, and create positive change in his own life.
