Durbin praised Giffords, a former US congresswoman who survived an assassination attempt in 2011, for "turning immense trauma and pain into selfless action in all 50 states," and reiterated a shared commitment to tackling gun safety reform as the nation heads into a new presidential administration.

Final performances of the season! The Claremont Concert Orchestra performs works by Strauss II, Grieg, Khachaturian, & Barroso!

The Claremont Concert Orchestra perform a concert of symphonic works by Strauss II, Grieg, Khachaturian, & Barroso.

There will be two performances. An evening concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 and a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. on December 8.

Concerts will be held in Garrison Theater at the Scripps College Performing Arts Center. The Joint Music Program is honored to welcome visiting conductor, Raphaela Lacerda for the Fall 2024 concerts.

The program includes
Strauss II, Die Fledermaus Overture,
Grieg, Norwegian Dances,
Khachaturian, Masquerade Suite, and
Barroso, Aquarela do Brasil (arr. by Jamberê).

Admission is FREE and open to the public.

Celebrated artist and Scripps graduate Alison Saar '78 has won a $100,000 grant from the Trellis Art Fund! Selected from more than 150 applicants, Saar joins just 11 other grantees who can use the funding in any way to support their creative practice.

Saar's work is displayed in renowned institutions across the world, including right here at Scripps College. She most recently debuted a commissioned sculpture in Paris in honor of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
