Hello Scripps community members. We here at the IT Department would like to invite everyone to an introductory workshop about Teams, a collaboration and communication platform that is part of the Microsoft 365 family of products offered by Scripps. The workshop will be led by Jessica, one of our student interns. We will be going over the basic essentials such as joining a Team and messaging fellow Team members.
The event will be hosted from 10:00 to 10:30 AM PST on Tuesday, April 20th, and Thursday, April 22nd. (Check your Scripps college email for the link)
It would be very helpful to install Teams onto your computer before the workshop. To install Teams, follow the video guide here: https://scrippscollege.box.com/s/mvp0gv9mbf2ncibt50dcdm5g7urtjddt.
If you need any one-on-one help installing Teams or have any questions about the workshop in general, feel free to contact [email protected] or reach out directly to Jessica at jmei1522@scrippscollege. We hope to see you there.

Hello Scripps Community,
On Friday, January 15 beginning at 8 a.m., the Claremont Colleges will be completing maintenance on the electrical substation located at TCCS. Throughout the day, all buildings on the Scripps campus will lose power intermittently. Please prepare for multiple power interruptions. Because of the nature of the outages, you should plan to have no internet nor remote access to your on-campus computer for the duration of the repair work being done at TCCS. The cellular towers that serve the colleges will also be disrupted, so please plan to have limited or no cellular service during this time as well. In addition, card readers will be offline intermittently.
This repair was previously scheduled, but due to an unforeseen issue with a back-up generator, it was postponed until now. This work will repair the generator and prevent interruptions like this in the future. The work completed on the 15th will be important for a future SoCal Edison outage, when generators are running and the campus should be unimpacted.
We anticipate the maintenance to last through the close of business on Friday. Please contact the Facilities Department with any questions or concerns at (909) 607-2541 or email [email protected].
Kind Regards,
Scripps College Facilities Department
Here are instructions to reactivate DUO on a new phone over break when the college is closed. Scripps IT will be closed 12-22 at noon and we return on January 4th. :-)
ALERT - Mac users - please don't upgrade to MacOS Big Sur
Yesterday, Apple released MacOS Big Sur 11, a major update to the operating system on their desktop and laptop systems. As is always the case with a new operating system, the software vendors will need time to update their products to ensure compatibility.
For Scripps-owned computers (laptops and desktops), please don’t upgrade your machine to Big Sur. Doing so could result in problems with your critical applications including Outlook, BOX, Zoom, and the Adobe suite. At this time, Information Technology’s only option to correct problems with an upgrade is to erase/downgrade the system back to a supported configuration.
For personal systems, the advice is the same. If you need your system for anything other than web browsing, upgrading in the first couple of weeks could be problematic.
The Information Technology group is testing the new operating system and will release additional guidance in the coming weeks.

This summer we added six more dells to the PC Teaching Classroom in Steele 229. That is a total of 30 student stations.
Scripps IT is getting ready for NSPO 2019. Here is our group from last year ~ it was so much fun. We cannot wait to help the class of 2023. See you soon.
A change we've made this year is our residence hall and smart classroom dells are now running Windows 10. You will use your Azure credentials to login. (Your email credentials).
The Fall semester is right around the corner.
Be sure to visit the new Gabrielle Jungels Winkler English rose garden just south of Balch Auditorium which overlooks the Malott Commons.
It's going to be a beautiful spot for meals, gatherings, study, and reflections. Scripps IT was able to piggy back on the renovation and add an outdoor wireless access point for your connectivity needs. Enjoy!
We hope everyone has a safe Fourth of July Holiday.
You may have noticed that we have a cool web page that has links to all student portals and resources. It is called Campus Essentials. http://inside.scrippscollege.edu/essentials. Enjoy!
