🍀CHICK CHAIN SHOW & AUCTION – CENTRAL SET!🍀
It’s almost time for the Chick Chain Show & Auction for the Central Set, bringing together Autauga, Bibb, Chilton, and Elmore Counties!
When: September 19th, 9:00 am - 2:00 PM
Where: Chilton Research and Extension Center, 120 County Rd. 756, Clanton, AL 35046.
🍀We are so excited to have 10 Chilton County 4-Hers competing in the show! These 4-H members have worked hard all year on their Chick Chain projects, and we would love to see our community come out and support them!
Come out, cheer them on, and join the bidding fun and go home with a new chicken (or two!) We have Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rock, and White Leghorn.
🍀Another way you can support our 4-Hers:
If you do not want or need a chicken, you can purchase a chicken and donate the proceeds back to your county 4-H program while allowing the 4-Her to keep their chicken! It’s a win-win!

In Alabama, bermudagrass turf begins to go dormant during late fall after the turf has been exposed to cool temperatures. During this dormancy, bermudagrass turf can lose its green color, stop all vegetative growth, and become susceptible to damage.

You’ve probably heard of elderberry, but did you know it grows naturally across Alabama?
American elderberry is native to eastern North America and can often be found along Alabama streambanks and field edges. Its clusters of small white flowers appear in spring, followed by deep purple-black berries that ripen from summer into early fall.
Elderberries have been part of the regional diet for centuries and are used today in everything from syrups and jams to juices and beverages.
Knowing what you’re looking at matters. Several plants found in Alabama can resemble elderberry, and some look-alikes are highly toxic.
