Our students have enjoyed this nice weather pattern change. Cooler temps makes it alot more fun to hang 30 foot off the ground.

Last week we began doing activities to get the students comfortable working at height. This included throwing balls and pulling ropes when at the top of the pole. This week seniors began climbing with the students to help walk them through the process of hanging cross arms and disassembling them. Today many of our students are working to do the same thing by themselves.

As we move forward throughout the year we will create different scenarios, compete in teams to become faster, and begin utilizing different pieces of equipment, as well as continue in our book work to learn the ins and out of the trade. This has been a great group thus far and we are looking forward to the many new things we have planned for the year. Check back for more updates.

It's been a fun week in lineman class this week. Students are getting used to their gear and doing various activities to get them used to working at height. Also one of our Juniors made it to the top of the 70' pole today. Great job Levi.

Today, the U.S. Department of Education announced a final rule to implement the Workforce Pell Grant program created under President Trump’s historic Working Families Tax Cuts Act.

What an impressive evening it was last night. We celebrated over 170 senior career tech students achieving valuable industry credentials, scholarships, and College and Career Readiness Endorsements. Our Utility Lineman students were well represented in each of these areas, earning NCCER Credentials, OSHA training, Skid Steer Certifications, CPR/First Aid certifications, and two scholarships. Notably, Ethan Easterling received the Robertson Scholarship in the amount of $500 and the McKinnon Workforce Initiative Scholarship in the amount of $2,000. Congratulations to our deserving seniors on their outstanding achievement. Overall LCTC students were awarded $712,394 in scholarships directly tied to their training at LeCroy Carrer Tech.
