Congratulations to our OTE OBOB 2026 championship team, Currently Reading, who will be advancing to regionals in Oregon City next month! Way to go!

We have an awesome OTE parent coach who is a professional photographer that was kind enough to capture the two days of OBOB fun at OTE and we should be able to share those photos soon! SO stay tuned for that…

It was a fun-filled Friday morning! We celebrated our “Pawsome” Students of the Month for Welcoming Differences, learned about winter traditions, and enjoyed an amazing performance from our second graders. Way to go, everyone!

🍎 First grade got a “core” memory today! Students taste-tested a variety of apples ... from tart Granny Smiths to sweet Honeycrisps, from Golden Delicious to Cosmic Crisp and more! 🌟 After crunching, munching, and savoring every bite, they recorded their ratings to crown their favorites. Talk about a fruitful afternoon of learning! 🍏✨

Lots of cheers...and maybe a few tears from kindergarten families this morning as our youngest students started their first official day of school. It's going to be a great year for these fantastic 5- and 6-year olds! Welcome to Oregon Trail!

Mrs. McMurtrey’s second graders are budding authors! They’re learning to craft strong topic sentences, support them with three key details, and wrap up with clear conclusions. Great work, storytellers! ✍️📝

"Estaban Leon Aparicio is an Oregon Trail parent that volunteers every day for 2.5 hours. He helps supervise recess, and helps in the cafeteria. He jumps in to help whenever possible, and the kids love him!"

"Despite her kids not attending Oregon Trail for 7 years, she comes to Oregon Trail twice a week to do all of the laminating projects for teachers. Talk about dedication to her craft!"

"You know he is here because you can hear his laugh all the way down the hall. He supports kids one-on-one and in small groups. The kids love working with him because he is so encouraging and fun. I rounded the corner one day and saw him surrounded by kindys who were so engaged in the book he was reading with them that some of the kids were sitting on the table just so they could be closer to him and the book.:

As we celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week, we want to recognize our 'light-up man,' Gordon! You can see him volunteering at the crosswalk every morning.

Rise Up! Check out who visited Oregon Trail Elementary to help students’ upcoming singing performance! It’s the cast of Hamilton themselves—who will perform today at a school assembly before handing the microphone over to the students! Huge thanks to the Hamilton North American Tour!!

Oregon Trail kicked off the Portland Pickles Baseball reading challenge this afternoon with a VERY special guest, Dillon the Pickle!

Reading a good book will knock your socks off! That’s the message today at OTE, where students kicked off Literacy Week with Crazy Sock Day. Check out all the playful pairs we found just by visiting one lunch period! And who knew you could use silly socks to prop up your pigtails?
