This summer, City Scoop will take place at Tempo Park on Fair Oaks Boulevard on Wednesday, June 17, and at Sylvan Middle School on Wednesday, July 15.

Did you know that our FACE department has some fantastic FREE summer family events happening that we’d love to see you and your family at?! Check out our flier for more information on our Summer 2026 Family Events! 🎉

Our first summer family event, the Summer Community Care Hub, is taking place this Friday, June 12, from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at Whitney Avenue Elementary School (4248 Whitney Avenue, Sacramento). This is a free district and community resource fair offering families essential tools and resources to support student success. At this event, families can access tangible resources such as emergency food boxes, diapers, hygiene products, learning-at-home tools, and learn about a variety of community and district resources to support their family.

This month’s Community Care Hub will focus on summer learning resources, kids activities (outdoor games, sports, gardening, robotics), and many more family resources and community supports!

No pre-registration is required and all resources are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. We invite all families to stop by, connect, and access support needed!

🎉 8th Grade Promotion Dance – TURN UP! 🎶

Calling all 8th graders! Join us for an unforgettable night of music, dancing, and fun at the “Turn Up!” Promotion Dance on Friday, May 29 from 5:30–7:00 PM in the Barrett Middle School Gym!

🎟️ $5 Tickets will be sold during lunch from Wednesday 5/26 to Friday 5/29
🚫 No tickets will be sold at the door
🪪 Student ID and ticket with parent signature is required for entry
🍿 Bun N Bite Burger food truck will be available - will offer sodas and candies as well

Please remember: all school rules and dress code policies apply, and students must be approved to participate.

How should we handle mobile devices at school? 📱 🏫

Last year, we limited mobile device use during class time, and the feedback was clear: classrooms became more focused and positive. Now, we’re looking ahead to 2026-27 and want to hear your thoughts on extending those restrictions to the entire school day, including lunches and breaks. (Some of our schools already use an all-day policy, but this would make it a district-wide practice.)

Ahora, nos estamos preparando para el año escolar 2026-27 y queremos saber qué opinan sobre extender esas restricciones a toda la jornada escolar, incluyendo la hora del almuerzo y los recreos.
