Hello Maverick Nation,

Due to an oversight on my part I have made changes to our Bell Schedule/Finals Schedule. Originally, MVHS did not have final dates set for Term 1 (October 7) and Term 3 (March 17). As a result, I have edited our bell schedule finals dates (not adding days to the calendar, but editing the release time for students). Here are the changes:

TERM 1 Updates

October 6 - 1st and 2nd Period Only - Finals Schedule and students will be on campus from 8:15 - 12:35.

October 7 - 3rd and 4th Period Only - Finals Schedule and students will be on campus from 8:15 - 12:35.

October 8 - Continue as planned - No School, recess day

**Bus transportation department has been notified of this change.

**Please note that on finals days students will only attend two periods each day.

March 16 - 1st and 2nd Period Only - Finals Schedule and students will be on campus from 8:15 - 12:35.

Hello Mesa Students and Families,
As Block 1 comes to an end, it is time to collect up our textbooks and get them ready for Block 2 distribution. We want to provide you with multiple days and times to turn in your materials, as it is a busy time of year and we want to allow for social distancing. We also know that some teachers are not requiring you to have your textbooks for next week’s assignments and exams, while other teachers may need you to use your textbooks throughout next week. So we have created the following schedule to allow you flexibility to return your books at Mesa:

Mesa Verde Block 1 Textbook Return:

Wednesday, December 16, 8am-4pm – Large Gym
Thursday, December 17, 8am-7pm (evening hours included) – Large Gym
Friday, December 18, 8am-4pm – Large Gym
-AND-
Monday, January 4, 8am-4pm – Large Gym

We will be practicing appropriate social distancing and face coverings are required while on campus. When you arrive at the Large Gym, we will scan your textbooks and then ask you to place your textbooks in the designated subject area. We will also have staff available to assist you if needed.

Thank you for your efforts to get textbooks returned! And best of luck as you finish your Block 1 courses and final exams! We are almost half way through the school year. Let’s finish well Maverick Nation!

Good afternoon,

The Family and Community Engagement team is excited to host our 4th Spanish language virtual workshop of the school year! Please see attached the flyer for the Consejos para Entender el Progreso Académico de su Estudiante (Tips on Understanding the Academic Progress of Your Student) workshop that will take place on Wednesday, October 14th at 6:00pm via Zoom.

We will be sharing information with our Spanish speaking families regarding the upcoming Parent/Teacher conferences, as well as complete an overview of the A-G requirements.

Please share this flyer with your staff and forward on to any families that you support who might be interest in attending. Families do not need to pre-register to participate. The Zoom link will be posted 20 minutes prior to the start of the meeting on the following site: www.sanjuan.edu/familiascuentan. Families can also use this site to review the videos of the previous workshops we have completed throughout the year on various topics – including Google Classroom and Parent Portal.

REMINDERS FROM MESA VERDE HIGH SCHOOL

We need all MVHS Families to complete the following:
Online Meal Application – Not all families qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch, however we ask that all families complete the meal application online. This is a quick and easy task that can be completed at: http://mealapps.sanjuan.edu
Mandatory Online Emergency Card (also includes technology needs for distance learning) - The emergency card can be found by logging on to your parent portal at: https://sis.sanjuan.edu/parentportal. If you have misplaced or forgotten your log in information please email the Principal's Assistant, Juli Paxiao at [email protected] to retrieve this information.

Important information:
Student schedules will be available for viewing online starting Monday, August 10. To view student schedules, you must log into your parent or student portal.

Chromebook Check Out (Optional for those who need the technology):
To accommodate our families, we will be available all day on August 6 (see below) for computer check out. Social distancing and masks will be required and strictly enforced throughout this process. Students/guardians will need to provide a student ID or a parent ID when they report to school to check out their computer.

Textbook Check Out:
With many uncertain factors at this time, MVHS has decided to hold textbook check out after the start of the school year when classes are balanced. Textbook check out will be on Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20 in the Library. Not to interfere with the school day and to accommodate working families, this event will take place in the evening from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. FRESHMEN STUDENTS AND FAMILIES

Unfortunately, we will not be able to host an on-campus Freshmen Orientation at this time. However, to welcome our incoming Maverick students and families we will be hosting a virtual/online Freshmen Orientation that will be available Monday, August 10 at 8:00am. All information and links will be delivered via email prior to this time.

Additionally, the MVHS Link Crew (student mentors who connect with incoming 9th grade students) will be hosting a Live Kahoot event on Monday, August 10 at 7:30pm. This information will also be delivered via email prior to this event.

It is also highly encouraged that all parents/guardians and students download the school app. This can be done by downloading the “Mesa Verde High School” app in your iTunes or Google Play Store.

Online Meal Application

Hello Mesa Verde Families,

**REMINDER for 2019/2020 Yearbook Distribution**

If you have purchased a Yearbook or would still like to purchase a yearbook, please mark your calendar for Thursday, July 23 between the hours of 8:00am and 11:00am. For families that have already purchased a yearbook we will have a drive-thru pickup, while those who would like to purchase a yearbook will report to the finance office to purchase and receive their yearbook.

If you will be purchasing a yearbook please have a check made out to "Mesa Verde High School" and write "2019/2020 Yearbook" on the Memo line. Cash is also accepted. Social distancing and masks will be required.

To receive a pre-purchased yearbook, be prepared to show the Mesa Verde student ID and/or the legal guardians ID when you come through the drive-thru pick up line.

If this time does not work for you, please email Juli Paxiao at [email protected] to schedule an alternative time.

Again, our Yearbook pickup and purchasing date is set for Thursday, July 23 between the hours of 8:00 and 11:00am.
