Snowy Mountain Music Music teacher for 20 years in public schools (10 years in Pendleton County), offering group lessons. Rates are $80/month for four 1/2hr lessons.

Lessons are offered in Franklin, Circleville, and soon Petersburg, WV.

This interesting tune - An Dro - is played here by Jax Bennett / Walter Hojka on fiddle and Azalea Waddell / Ava Sherman on keyboard at the Ruritan spring dinner.

An An Dro is a very old Breton folk circle dance, noted as being derived from medieval carols.

Snowy Mountain Stringband performing “I’ll tell me Ma” at the Spruce Mountain Ruritan Club spring supper - Jax Bennet and Azalea Waddell on fiddle/ singing and Ava Sherman on tambourine / singing, under the direction of Walter Hojka.

The tune “I’ll tell me Ma“ is a traditional children’s tune known from 19th century England and Ireland.

Traditionally, a children’s game is played while singing the song. Children form a ring, holding hands, with one child in the center. When they sing “Pray won’t you tell me, who is she,” the child in the middle names one of the children in the ring, and they swap places in the middle.

Congratulations to the Snowy Mountain String Band for playing so nicely at the Annual Friends of the Library meeting!

Azalea, Jax, Ava, and Aubrey played numerous tunes including Sourwood Mountain, a traditional old-time tune.

Know anyone interested in joining? Rehearsals are at 10am, Saturdays, at the Historic Circleville HS.
