Help Let Composting Work

California has made significant progress expanding composting and reducing waste. However, AB 1812 as it is currently written will eliminate all certified compostable packaging as a viable and sustainable option. Certified compostable packaging serves as an effective and sustainable tool to help keep food scraps out of landfills while supporting the circular economy.

We believe policy decisions should be guided by science, internationally recognized standards, and real-world experience.

Thank you to APEC - Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation for hosting Dr. Anthony Keyes, in his capacity as Vice Chair of Sustainability for ASTM’s Committee D20 on Plastics, at their workshop focused on Empowering the Plastics Recycling Industry.

Dr. Anthony Keyes gave a talk to engage the participants around the issues of material quality, traceability, and market acceptance.
