Sands Montessori Parent Organization The Sands Montessori Parent Organization (SMPO) is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit made up of Sands parents/legal guardians, teachers and staff.

The Sands Montessori Parent Organization is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization made up of Sands parents/legal guardians, teachers and staff. The SMPO Mission is for families, staff, and students to work together to strengthen the Sands Montessori community of life-long learners. All Sands parents/legal guardians, teachers and staff are automatically members of the SMPO. Membership is free. SMPO meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month (August-May) in the Media Center at 7 p.m. All are invited to attend. The August and April meetings are also considered “General Parent Meetings.” This just means that issues will be brought in front of the parents assembled for voting. Typically, the SMPO Annual Budget is voted on at the August meeting, while at the April meeting, the Rudder Committee members for the following school year are elected.

Our friend and Mt. Washington neighbor, artist , is unveiling a new body of work built entirely around ice cream — and we’ll be there with a few limited-edition pastries inspired by the exhibition:

🍓 Strawberry Shortcake Bar

Jim’s studio is right across the street from our Coffeehouse, and we’ve loved having his work become part of the neighborhood and our space. Getting to create something for his new exhibition feels like a natural extension of that relationship.

Join us for the Collector’s Event on Friday, September 25 from 5–6:30 PM at Studio Beechmont for the first look at the exhibition, our special pastries, w**e from Jon Flannery and Mt. Washington Water Tower Fine Wines, a DJ set by Big Tree, and more.
