SPRING RECITALS Galore!!

ISAM welcomed Spring 2024 with recitals every weekend.

Congratulations to all our wonderful performers and their teachers!

Saturday night was a celebratory evening for the Academy students and faculty! Over 250 guests gathered at the Mason Marriott hotel for the 2024 Spring GALA, jointly presented by Piano Players in Mason and the Indian Springs Academy. Created to celebrate student achievement, the GALA also spotlights the tremendous personal and community value of playing music.

Students received certificates for including Music Theory in their study program and organizing music based community service projects; medals for completing 5 or more RCM exams, studying 2 or more instruments, and being a RCM State, Regional or National Gold Medalist. The GALA top prize of a plaque and $200 went to Mason HS Senior, Grace Chi, for completing the RCM Level 10 Certificate, including all theory requirements.

Fun events included teacher nominated recognition for "Best Beginner" and "Pursuit of Excellence", where students were each introduced by a video of their teacher explaining why they were chosen for the award. RCM high scorers received medals, adult students received flowers as did families with multiple enrollments - a true commitment to the performing arts! Janet Lopinski, Senior Director, College of Examiners and Academic Programs delivered a beautiful congratulatory message via video to commend and encourage our students along their journey.

Performances were presented in small "Student Honors Recital" groups (both solo and ensembles with teachers) and the evening closed with outstanding performances by faculty from both Piano Players and Indian Springs - Elizabeth Laron, flute - Houston Tyrrell, voice - Christina Tan, piano - Dan Qiao, violin.

Congratulations to all on a wonderful and most jubilant evening celebration!

It is with a broken heart that I announce the passing of the Academy's Manager, Kerri Ryan. Kerri fell asleep as she was driving home from work in the early morning hours Sunday November 5, 2023.

For 16 years Kerri managed the Academy's needs on a daily basis. She would come in every day to refresh the facility and ensure it was clean. She also created ISAM's 2012 web site, took recital photos, setup receptions, drove pick up errands, managed supplies and made sure we were operating safely and comfortably.

Her final gift to all of us was the fresh interior paint for our 10th Anniversary year. A former professional and skilled painter, Kerri was also professionally certified as a Faux Finish Artist. The Academy's three faux walls located in the stair well, office and Barber room remain an homage to her life at the Academy in service to us all.

Very much my working partner at ISAM, Kerri was also my youngest sister. I cannot begin to describe the loss. Kerri was sweet natured and kind, and always stepped up to the plate in any situation. Despite the tremendous, life changing challenges in her life after the loss of her husband and relocation to Ohio, she worked to create a stable life for her two boys. A person a great Faith it was clearly born out through her generosity, gentle kindness and the ability to see everyone as another child of God. Kerri will glow in my heart forever. I will miss her every day.

PLUS week is always a fun and exciting week at the Academy! Students enjoy small group sessions that focus on performance and a variety of musicianship skills. Learning to listen is an invaluable aspect of learning to play an instrument!

ISAM Open for Fall!!

Preparing for its 20th Anniversary year with a few weeks of primping and painting, the Academy never looked better.

Congratulations OMTA-RCM Gold Medal recipients!

Students of OMTA members receive the Gold Medal of Excellence for scores of 90 and higher on their Practical Exams.
