This year, 18 OHHS Art and Design Drawing and Printmaking students are lending their creative voice and interpretations of the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights to the USA Miniprints for Peace and Justice, an annual challenge established by SOS ART in 2020.

The Delhi Event Center will be hosting their third annual summer arts exhibition “The heART of the Community”, showcasing the artworks of area schools.
The exhibition opening will take place on June 2nd, from 5:00-7:00pm, and will feature artworks from area schools. There will be awards of Special Recognition for Elementary, Middle , High School and University art. The exhibition will be on display June 2nd through August 13th.

Just Earth – Cincinnati aims to educate and facilitate action among residents of the Cincinnati region to address the intersecting crises of climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental injustice. Visual Art and Design Signing Night is a celebratory event honoring graduating seniors as they commit to their post-secondary paths in art and design. The event recognizes students’ accomplishments, growth, and dedication throughout their high school careers. It brings together families, teachers, and peers to celebrate each student’s achievements and the next step in their creative journey.

National Art Honor Society Service Award
The National Art Honor Society recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding artistic achievement, service, leadership, and character through advocacy and community involvement in the arts. Sophia Wehman has exemplified these qualities through extensive arts-based service, including creating murals, volunteering for exhibitions and events, and contributing artwork for disadvantaged children around the world. Their dedication to both community engagement and artistic excellence has earned them the National Art Honor Society Service Award.

Changemaker in Art Award
The Changemaker Award in Art recognizes a student whose work demonstrates creativity, vision, and a commitment to meaningful change. Lydia Wilson has consistently created artwork that explores important social and human issues, using art to encourage empathy, reflection, and conversation. Their work highlights the ability of art to inspire awareness, compassion, and positive impact within both the school and broader community.

Luminary in Art Award
The Luminary Award in Art recognizes a student whose creativity brings light, meaning, and connection through moments of challenge and uncertainty. Sophia Wehman has used her artwork to explore both personal experiences and broader social issues with honesty, imagination, and emotional depth. Her work reflects the complexities of the human experience while encouraging reflection, empathy, and hope through powerful visual storytelling.

Outstanding Senior Artists and Designers
The Outstanding Senior Artist Award recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional creativity, technical skill, dedication, and artistic growth. Maggie Heydorn and Lydia Wilson have consistently pushed themselves through advanced coursework, exhibitions, competitions, and disciplined artistic practice while developing strong individual voices in their work. Their commitment to artistic excellence, leadership, and continued growth has made them outstanding representatives of the Art and Design Department.

Permanent Art Collection
The Permanent Student Art Collection is a long-standing collaboration between Student Council and the Art & Design Department that showcases selected senior artwork throughout Oak Hills High School. Through a juried competition, seniors submit original pieces for consideration to be professionally framed and added to the district’s permanent display. This year, Maria Elena Arrivillaga Munoz and Evelyn Mendez-Coronado were selected, continuing the tradition of celebrating student artistic excellence.

The AP Recognition Ceremony celebrates the achievements and perseverance of students in AP 2D Art and Design, AP 3D Art and Design, and AP Drawing. The event honors their dedication to sustained artistic inquiry, skill development, and creative problem-solving throughout the year. It highlights the growth, commitment, and hard work that went into producing their AP portfolios and recognizes their accomplishments in advanced-level artmaking.
