The Cincinnati Waldorf School Walk-A-Thon + 5K is back! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

This student-led fundraiser brings our school community together to build school spirit and raise vital funds for Outdoor Learning Spaces at CWS.

And yes… there’s a little friendly competition involved. 👀

💥 The first TWO classes to reach their class fundraising goal get to DUNK A TEACHER! 💦

🍕 Every class that reaches its goal earns a pizza party!

Every gift helps move us closer to our school-wide goal and closer to seeing which teachers end up in the dunk tank. 😉

We’re thrilled to welcome our new Cedar Works Play Set to the Cincinnati Waldorf School campus — another meaningful investment in our outdoor learning spaces and in the everyday experiences of our students.

In just the first two days, more than 100 children have already played on the new set! The giggles, laughter, and joyful energy coming from the playground have been so heartwarming to hear. 🌿✨

This exciting addition was made possible through the generosity of our community.

A HUGE thank you to our Parent Association for their generous $4,500 contribution toward the purchase of the play set!

We are also incredibly grateful to MidStates Fund Sharing for honoring CWS with a generous $4,000 grant, helping make this new outdoor learning space possible.

We’re so grateful to everyone who continues to invest in the places where our children learn, explore, imagine, and grow.

Here’s to many more hours of joyful outdoor play! 🌳💚

What if learning about Waldorf education could be part of your parenting journey?

At Cincinnati Waldorf School, we believe parents are an important part of the educational experience. That’s why we offer Foundation Studies, monthly opportunities for parents to deepen their knowledge and understanding of Waldorf education.

Held on the first Friday of each month from 1:00–3:30 PM at the school, these sessions are open to all parents and provide space to learn, ask questions, explore Waldorf principles, and connect with others in our community.

Our Annual Fund tree just got a little bigger — and we’re celebrating a milestone!

Our goal is $50,000 by November 30, 2026, with two important goals along the way:

💚 100% participation from our Board, Faculty, and Families
💰 $50,000 raised to care for our campus

From heating and cooling systems to windows and electrical systems, the Annual Fund helps maintain the school our community calls home.

Our Early Childhood department has been preparing for the upcoming Michaelmas Festival for several weeks!

They’ve grown their own marigolds, cared for the plants, harvested them, dried them in their classroom, made a natural dye and dyed silks to reflect the natural marigold color.

They’re so beautiful and meaningful!

Waldorf students complete processes, cycles and do meaningful work that make a difference. They’re engaged with their head, hearts and hands.

By participating in the rich festival life at the school, the students contribute towards a healthy community and connect to the changing seasons.

The Michaelmas Festival is a reminder that we must awaken ourselves and find the courage to thrive in the darker months ahead.

In Waldorf education, literacy begins long before a child is decoding words on a page.

Children build a rich relationship with language through:
✨ Listening to stories
✨ Singing and reciting verses
✨ Memorizing poems and songs
✨ Having meaningful, real-life conversations
✨ Building vivid inner pictures through imagination

These experiences are not separate from literacy—they lay the foundation for it.

Waldorf schools intentionally nurture a child’s relationship with language and imagination before moving into explicit reading instruction. When children begin learning to read, they bring with them a deep well of vocabulary, language patterns, memory, attention, and rich inner imagery.

Reading is taught. But the relationship with language begins first.

As we celebrate 53 years of Cincinnati Waldorf School, we’re coming together to care for the place where our children learn, grow, and thrive.

This year, we have TWO GOALS:

💰 $50,000 raised to support essential campus maintenance and infrastructure — from heating and cooling to windows, electrical systems, and other improvements that keep our 100+ year-old school building safe, welcoming, and inspiring.
