LET’S EXTEND A WARM SVF SCHOOL WELCOME TO OUR NEW PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER, MR. MICHAEL RUBIN!

“I graduated from Mariemont High School before earning an Associate of Applied Science in Exercise Science from Cincinnati State, and a Bachelor's in Physical Education and Health from Northern Kentucky University. During college, I completed nearly 700 hours of field experience working alongside physical education teachers at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, including Boone County High School, Indian Hill Middle School, and Fort Wright Elementary.
Outside of school, I enjoy watching and playing basketball, following football, exercising, playing video games, watching movies, and spending time with my two brothers. A fun fact about me is that I was received into the Catholic Church this past Easter alongside my father through St. Gertrude Parish. I chose to teach physical education because physical activity has had a tremendous impact on my life, and I want my students to experience that same joy. My goal is to help students develop the skills, confidence, and love for movement that will encourage them to stay active throughout their lives. As someone new to Catholic education, I am especially looking forward to becoming part of the St. Vincent Ferrer community and building lasting relationships with my students and their families.”

ST. VINCENT FERRER NEW STAFF SPOTLIGHT!!
Introducing 6th grade teacher Mrs. Danielle Owens:
“Hello, my name is Danielle Owens. I hold a master’s degree in English, and throughout my career, I have taught students from preschool to college. Over the last four years, I have taught middle school ELA at a private Catholic school in Kentucky. In my spare time, my husband, Brian, and I love cheering our 6’10 son, Tyler, on the basketball court. He will be heading off to college to play D-1 basketball this fall, which is exciting for our family. I have two pugs, Walter and Hank, who will benefit from Tyler’s absence in the house, as they will be spoiled more than ever. I have chosen a field in education as I love reading, writing, and sharing that passion to help build confidence with young learners so that they develop the skills to be lifelong learners. I am excited to immerse myself in SVF culture and start building relationships with my students.”

“The Heavens are telling the Glory of God, and all creation is shouting for joy…”
Today, we celebrated the dedication of our newly renovated Francis Courtyard. Named after St. Francis of Assisi and Pope Francis, this space allows our students to learn first hand about the gift of God’s creation. The renovation of our courtyard was made possible by a grant from the EPA, and creates an Outdoor Learning Lab for our students. Improved drainage has been created with a dry creek bed that drains to a covered pond, along with rain barrels that drain collected water to the pond, as well. The fountain and bubbler for this pond are solar powered, and we are looking forward to welcoming some minnows and frogs for our students to observe. Raised planting beds have been created for our classes to plant and tend, and pollinator beds have been planted with native plants. This is going to be a unique space for our students to learn about nature IN nature, and it is a blessing to have this on SVF property.
A very special thanks to Mr. Mark Morman who obtained the grant for this space, and worked to bring this vision to life. Additionally, we thank Mr. Zach Dehaemers and a crew of high school and adult volunteers that worked tirelessly to create this amazing space. We look forward to the many ways our students will grow in their knowledge of God’s beautiful world!

ST. VINCENT FERRER NEW STAFF SPOTLIGHT!!
Introducing 4th grade teacher Mrs. Sarah Gobrogge:
“I am thrilled to be joining the SVF community this year! This is my 11th year of teaching and 14th year in education. After graduating with a B.S. in Psychology from Georgia Tech, I quickly realized my passion for working with children and pursued a Master of Arts in Teaching from Georgia Southern. I have been fortunate to work in Catholic schools for the majority of my career, teaching both elementary and middle grades with a specific passion for mathematics.
Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my family, traveling, baking, reading, and cheering on Seattle sports teams! A fun fact about me is that I left for college at the age of 16. I am passionate about education because it is incredibly rewarding to play a role in shaping students' futures and helping them to overcome challenges. While I am new to St. Vincent Ferrer, I am very much looking forward to joining this faith-filled community and participating in its many wonderful traditions.”

“ I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Saint Catherine University and have worked in education for many years. I am especially excited to join the SVF staff this year and look forward to welcoming my new second graders and their families into our classroom! A fun fact about me is that I have six children who live in six different states, so I always look forward to traveling to see them. Our 4th and 5th grade students attended a demonstration of instrumental band instruments. Mr. Ethan Maycon, a recent CCM graduate, will be our new band director from the Music Staff. Paperwork was sent home today for
our students interested in Beginning Band and students eligible for Advance Band. Band will be after school on Mondays!

Did you know research shows that students who study an instrument often score better on Math, Science, and English exams? Studying an instrument is not just another after-school opportunity, it is a way to improve student learning!

Today was the beginning of a new SVF tradition—Monday Morning Prayer Assemblies!
This year, on Monday mornings, we will bring our school community together at the start of the day to learn about our virtue and saints of the month, pray, read scripture, and shout out our students that made a difference in our community this week.
What a beautiful way to begin our week as a school community!!

It’s the second day of school! Our students spent the day settling into the classroom, getting to know their classmates, and heading to the library for the first time this year. And of course, we welcomed the second half of our Preschool, PreK, and Kindergarten classes. It’s another GREAT day to be a HORNET!!!
