CSCA Organizational and Professional Communication Interest Group

The Organizational & Professional Communication Interest Group's Annual Tour is back — and this year we're visiting one of Minneapolis's most exciting venues.

A Bar of Their Own (ABOTO) opened in March 2024 as the Midwest's first sports bar dedicated exclusively to women's sports. Since then, the women's sports bar movement has taken off nationwide — and ABOTO has been part of that story from the start.

Join us as ABOTO founder Jillian Hiscock shares how she built the space, the momentum behind the movement, and what community engagement looks like in practice. The tour is free and open to all conference attendees. The Sports Communication Interest Group is co-sponsoring the event.

Location: We will visit Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Medical Center (CCHMC), consistently ranked as one of America's best children's hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. After the tour, CCHMC representatives will join us to talk about some of the unique ways they communicate with patients and families amid the stress and uncertainty of receiving care, as well as how they engage the community. Field Trip Details: Our group will meet at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza Hotel at 3:00pm on Friday, April 4, 2025, to carpool to the Cincinnati Children's Burnet Campus (10 minute drive – 3333 Burnet Ave, https://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/locations/burnet). The tour will be followed by an optional no-host social at March First Brewing (10 Fountain Square Plaza; https://www.marchfirstbrewing.com/).

Advanced Registration Requested: CCHMC has generously volunteered to customize the tour and presentation to our participants’ interests.
