School House Symphony

A six member ensemble, we represent the string, woodwind, brass and percussion families.

We perform primarily for pre-school through 8th grade in the Cincinnati and Tri-State area, including Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. The Ensemble Members:
Nora Barton, cello
JinHee Hand, flute
Karen McDowell, violin
Glenn Proffit, trombone
Lotti Ropert, French horn
Laura Sabo, clarinet

As educators, we know children learn best when they want to learn more. That's why we strive to present ideas in a relaxed atmosphere, starting with things the students already know. School House Symphony programs are animated and engaging because our professional musicians/educators have a sincere interest in children and strive to help them absorb both the music and the information that make up each performance.

What a special day at Mercy! 🎶 We had so much fun welcoming back the School of Symphony for the second year in a row.

Our students were treated to a wonderful live performance exploring diverse musical styles from around the world. Between the engaging props and discovering instruments, it was an inspiring day of listening, imagination, and storytelling through music.

A huge thank-you to School House Symphony for sharing your talent and joy with our students! 💙

Parents, your homework tonight: Ask your student which instrument was their favorite (flute, violin, clarinet, cello, French horn, or trombone) or what sound surprised them the most! 🥁 Drumroll, please… we can’t wait to hear their answers!
