We could not agree more…healthy communities need gardens and community gardens flourish when neighbors come together…

CHD's Healthy Communities team is proud to partner with WIN to support and grow community gardens throughout the Beekman Corridor. We’re working to strengthen volunteer coordination and provide ongoing support to garden leaders in North Fairmount, South Fairmount, South Cumminsville, Millvale, and English Woods.

Community gardens flourish when neighbors come together. By volunteering, you’re helping expand access to fresh, locally grown foods. Join us in cultivating stronger, healthier neighborhoods. Let’s grow together.

It’s almost that time for Spring…but not quite yet…waiting for frozen frisbee golf to make it to the Winter Olympics! Sometimes you have to make lemons out of lemonade…or frisbees out of frozen water!

It is that time of year when we start thinking about the next year, so we have prepared an informational bulletin board for our hallway that advertises & describes each of our 4 courses in our (A0) Agribusiness & Production CTE Pathway of Aiken and how we learn and do agriculture…especially being National Agriculture Day!

Unpredictable Spring Weather! Snow and sub-zero temperatures require protection of our seedlings with coverings...in the morning we need to remove them...then repeat...

The direct seeding challenge is discerning what was intentionally planted with what was volunteered to rescue to what was volunteered to remove to what is a weed…at least our seeds are growing…the 1st plant is spinach which is what we want…the others…not so much…

Our doelings used to be so very small…now bigger, they are still piling in our brooder for warmth on these last few cold days…we are nearing the end of our lifesaving usefulness of our goat brooder…

03/16/2026

The main food source for our triplet doelings remains their mother’s milk, but we have introduced hay, grain, and water…now we introduce competitive food eating…not Joey Chestnut, but…Bertha has been very patient and willing to share her feed…

Our Doeling Horn Development is progressing after a month they are just now becoming more prominent and a tad sharp…the horn on does have a more delayed growth rate than bucks…they will also be small in their maturity…
