This week, Father John Paul walked into every classroom to bless our students, and he left each one with a question: In what way will you ask the Sacred Heart of Jesus to help you grow this year?

It’s a fitting question for a school whose theme is Hope. Not hope as a feeling, but Hope with a capital H—the virtue the Catechism describes as our desire for heaven and eternal life as our ultimate happiness, trusting not in our own strength, but in the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Our life is a pilgrimage. The goal is arduous, but with God’s help, possible. Hope is what keeps us walking toward it.

🔥 Sacred Heart of Jesus, our hope and our strength.

New year, freshly sharpened pencils, and hearts full of a promise that never changes. ✨🐾
The hallways at St. Gertrude are officially buzzing again for the 2026-2027 school year!

Our theme this year is our roadmap: “Heart of Christ, Our Hope and Strength.” By anchoring ourselves in 1 John 4:16—remembering that God is love and we abide in Him—our students are equipped with a foundation that no textbook can match. Armed with His love, we are stepping into this school year ready to grow together! 🙌

If you want a masterclass in how fast 9 years flies by, just look at the St. Gertrude Class of 2026. This week marks their absolute final days walking these hallways as SGS students.

From tiny kindergarteners trying to find their classrooms to the 8th-grade leaders running the school, this group has officially reached the end of an era.

Remember when recess meant coming home with muddy sneakers and grass stains? Our elementary students know the feeling well!

First graders from St. Gertrude School traded the classroom for the ultimate science lab at the Cincinnati Nature Center. This field trip was the perfect continuation of the outdoor STEM education our students explore on campus every single week.

True learning happens when kids get their hands dirty, ask big questions, and explore the real world. St. Gertrude students are proving that the best childhood memories, and the best future scientists, are still made in the great outdoors.

Plot twist: When you actually LOOK at God’s creation, it’s even more mind-blowing than you imagined 🤯

Last week our middle school students tackled dissections of bullfrogs, squids and fetal pigs, discovering the Creator’s handiwork, one system at a time.

🔬 6th Grade: Advanced structural analysis of amphibian cardiovascular systems and sensory mechanisms
🧬 7th Grade: Biomechanical investigation of cephalopod predatory adaptations and chromatophore functionality🩺 8th Grade: Comprehensive mammalian systems analysis with direct correlation to human physiology

The question driving it all: How does understanding life’s complexity change how we see the created world?
