Another great week of learning at Monfort Heights! 💚🤍💚🤍

✏️ Ms. Sharpe’s class added a little fun to their learning by using LCD writing tablets to review vowel sounds in words. It was a fun way to switch things up and give the whiteboards and markers a break!
Our 5th graders were learning about food chains by playing Eat or Be Eaten! Students took turns choosing cards featuring different animals and plants and then used them to build food chains. Learning science through a hands-on game made for an engaging way to understand how living things depend on one another!
We love seeing our students learning, exploring, and having fun along the way! 💚🤍💚🤍

🏅📚 CKLA Unit 1 Wrap-Up: Nursery Rhyme Olympics! 📚🏅

What better way to celebrate all of our learning in CKLA Unit 1 than with our very own Nursery Rhyme Olympics! 🎉

Throughout this unit, our kindergarteners have been learning and enjoying classic nursery rhymes while building important literacy skills. We’ve practiced identifying rhyming words and characters, making predictions, sequencing events, and answering text-based questions—including learning to restate part of the question in our answers. 🧠📖

Today, we put all that nursery rhyme knowledge into action as students traveled through some very silly Olympic events:

🕯️ Jack Be Nimble Candlestick Hurdles
🐑 Little Boy Blue Sheep Round-Up
🥚 Humpty Dumpty Egg & Spoon Race
🐑 Mary’s Little Lamb Long Jump
🧶 Baa, Baa, Black Sheep Wool Toss

There was plenty of teamwork, laughter, movement, and nursery rhyme singing along the way! ❤️ To finish our celebration, every student was awarded a Nursery Rhyme Olympic medal for their hard work and learning throughout Unit 1. 🥇 Way to go, kindergarteners! CKLA Unit 1 is officially in the books! 📚🏆

What a beautiful day for our Monfort Heights Walkathon! ☀️ Our students had so much fun getting outside, walking, cheering each other on, and celebrating together!

And WOW… our Monfort Heights families raised an incredible $26,000! 🎉🙌 This money goes directly back to our school to support our students, staff, and the many needs within our school.

A HUGE shoutout to our amazing PTA for organizing and putting together such a wonderful event! We are so grateful for all the time, energy, and heart they put into making the Walkathon such a success. 💚🤍💚🤍

Lots going on at Monfort Heights this week!

Ms. Seger’s class wrapped up their Apple Unit with a fun apple volcano project! 🍏🌋

In Ms. Schutte’s science class, students learned about the importance of communication skills. They had to communicate with a partner to explain how to build a structure. Such a great hands-on way to practice listening, giving directions, and working together! 🗣️🤝

And our second-grade teachers were here bright and early Tuesday morning, making pancakes to celebrate the end of their CKLA unit on fairy tales! 🥞📖 What a fun way to celebrate all their hard work!

We finished off the school week with Colerain & Monfort Heights Spirit Day…and boy, did our students SHOW UP! ❤️🖤💚🤍 The spirit was everywhere, and we loved seeing everyone showing off their school pride!

Our first graders had an extra special celebration as they wrapped up their first CKLA unit with their Fable Olympics! 🦊🐢🏆 What a fun way to celebrate all their learning!
