Learning Through Art, Inc. is presenting at Hunter College from Nov 6–8 for this year's "Playful Literacies!" conference!

In our 60 minute session,

We had such a special time hosting the Story Quilt Community Conversation and Art-Making Workshop at the Fitton Center this past Saturday! 💛✂️

This community event was presented in collaboration with Ebony Brock from the Booker T. Washington Community Center as part of The Voice of the Soul of Black Folks celebration. Together, we gathered to honor "The Soul of Black Folks: 250 Years of Creativity, Leadership and Innovation," a stunning collection curated by Dr. Carolyn L. Mazloomi featuring the Women of Color Quilters Network.

The day featured moving poetry performances led by Sierra Leone, an inaugural artist-in-residence of the Kettering Foundation, alongside a group of seven talented poets from across Ohio who crafted original spoken word responses to selected works in the gallery.

Our favorite part of the afternoon was guiding families as they linked the exhibit's rich history to their own personal stories. Watching parents, kids, and neighbors open up, share memories, and create personalized framed story quilts to take home was pure magic.

Moments of connection, art, and shared history are at the heart of everything we do at Learning Through Art, Inc. Thank you to everyone who spent the day creating with us!
