"What lies ahead of you ought to include some room to wonder and wander, some room to discover that you were wrong about things and that the world is larger and stranger and more interesting than you knew.... As Lilly [Shafer] said, make mistakes. As Ryaan [Arif] advised, risk failure. As Leah [Coyle] said, give yourself grace."

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! Enjoy the adventure of what lies ahead in the twists and turns of life, and always remember you have a home here at Country Day.

"This is a class that has grown together—through shared experiences, class trips, and memories that will last a lifetime. I always believed they would step into leadership roles and serve as outstanding role models for younger students. They did not disappoint. They have excelled in the classroom, on the stage, and on the athletic fields. Over time, they have become a close-knit group that understands the importance of working hard—and enjoying the journey along the way." Congratulations to the Class of 2030! 🤍💙🎉🎓

🎓✨ A chapter closes, and a new one begins.

Yesterday, we celebrated our Fourth-Grade Recognition Ceremony as the Class of 2034 officially turned the page from lower schoolers to middle schoolers. As Head of Lower School Mark Morawski reminded the students, “Continue writing your story – your story is still being written. Each of you has already written meaningful chapters – filled with learning, growth, challenges, friendships, and accomplishments. You’ve discovered new strengths, made mistakes and learned from them, and taken important steps forward as learners and as people. Those chapters matter. They shape who you are and who you are becoming. But here is the most important part: this is not the end of your story. It is not even close. It is simply the turning of a page of your time here in the Lower School."

Congratulations to our fourth graders on all they have accomplished and on this important milestone. We are proud of the story you have written so far and can’t wait to see what comes next.

Family, friends, co-workers, and former students gathered to celebrate the retirement of Sarah Beyreis and Yvonne Green and to honor the lasting impact both have had on the school community. 🤍💙

Since joining Country Day in 2005, Sarah Beyreis has guided hundreds of students and families through the college admissions process with wisdom, care, and a deeply personalized approach. In addition to serving as director of college counseling, Sarah served as an English teacher, advisor to "The Scroll," academic dean, and leader of numerous school initiatives throughout her two decades at Country Day.

Head of School Rob Zimmerman `98 reflected on Sarah’s impact, saying, “Sarah Beyreis has worn many hats in her two decades at Country Day, but her biggest impact came one student at a time, guiding families through major life decisions with keen insight and generosity of spirit.”

The community also celebrated Yvonne Green, who served as the welcoming heart of the College Counseling Office for more than 20 years. Yvonne retired in 2024 due to medical reasons, making the retirement celebration especially meaningful as it marked her first time back on campus in two years.

“Yvonne Green served Country Day with passion, dedication, and a razor-sharp wit for more than 20 years,” said Zimmerman. “Anyone who had the privilege to work with her is better because of it.”

We thank Sarah and Yvonne for their years of service, leadership, and care for the Country Day community. Their impact will continue to be felt for generations of students to come.

Rain or shine, learning never stops on our 60-acre campus! 🌧️🌿
Students across multiple grade levels embraced the wet weather as part of the adventure in Outdoor Education:
🏕️ Sixth graders put the finishing touches on their primitive shelters, proving a little rain only makes the experience more authentic.
🧭 Fourth-grade students wrapped up the semester by working together through outdoor survival challenges like compass navigation, animal tracking, shelter building, and fire building — all while sharpening teamwork and problem-solving skills.
🐾 Kindergarteners made the most of the rainy days by searching for animal tracks, splashing in puddles, visiting Biscuit the pony, and even tasting nectar from honeysuckle flowers.

Some of the most authentic learning happens when students step outside the classroom!

Our middle school students had a blast staging their own scenes from "Much Ado About Nothing." By choosing creative spots around campus, they brought fresh Nighthawk energy to Shakespeare’s characters and conflicts. What a cool way to bring literature to life!

🏅🌍 The Middle School Student Council brought the spirit of the Olympics to campus!

Students were placed on mixed-grade teams, each representing a different country, and competed in a variety of events, including tennis, co****le, ping pong, and track. Throughout two days, students demonstrated teamwork, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of school spirit as they cheered each other on and represented their countries with pride.

A big thank you to the MS Student Council for organizing such a fun and memorable event!
