NLAC hosted its first storytelling event, creating a space where stories that have lived within families for generations were shared with the Cincinnati community. Through courage and vulnerability, our youth reminded us of power of storytelling to heal, connect and inspire.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our guest speakers Lakshmi Sammarco, Hamilton County Coroner, Mayor Aftab Pureval, and Clerk of Courts Pavan Parikh. Your presence affirmed for our youth that it is possible to see ourselves reflected in leadership and public office.

We also want to thank our partners Cincinnati Compass and the University of Cincinnati for their support in making this event possible.

Last but not the least, thank you to all our friends and allies who came out to listen to our youth.

Youths’ Project: Connecting Grandparents Through Lifelong Stories — Bridging the Gap
I was truly thrilled to hear some of our participants’ stories during yesterday’s practice session. Thank you to all the youths for sharing your incredible stories and talent. Your voices are powerful, and I am confident that our final event will be something truly special.
These stories reflect the lived experiences of a hundred thousand Bhutanese Americans who were forcefully evicted from their motherland. Through this project, we honor their journeys, resilience, and memories—and we will make this event grand for sure.
A heartfelt thank you to Cincinnati Compass and the University of Cincinnati for your continued support and coordination.
Thank you as well to all the parents for your time, encouragement, and unwavering support for this meaningful project.
Together, we are bridging generations.
