It was thanks to the University of Cincinnati cooperative education (co-op) program that alumna Zarria Gray was able to see the world.

She had never been out of the country, and was hesitant, but she set her fears aside and packed her bags. Gray spent a semester on co-op at CERN's Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland. She graduated in 2025 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

With football season just around the corner, Forbes looked to researchers at UC (University of Cincinnati) to provide context for a new report about CTE, a type of brain damage associated with concussions.

Eric Nauman, professor of biomedical engineering at UC, and his research partners have been conducting independent tests of various football helmets to see how they protect against blows.

Kaurab Gautam, graduate student engineer of the month, is working to mitigate the intense acoustic footprint left by military aircraft.

A PhD student in aerospace engineering at UC, Gautam has been fascinated by high-speed propulsion for years, and now gets to spend every day exploring it.

Welcome to campus, first years! Clear your calendar for Friday, August 21. The annual First Year Engineering (FYE) Fest is on Schneider Quad from 1-3pm. Come meet CEAS faculty and staff and kick off your next five years in style.

That same day, the university-wide involvement fair is from 5-7pm at Nippert Stadium. See all the student organization offerings on campus, including many of our engineering orgs! This is a great way to get involved and find your community on campus from day one. We hope to see you there ❤️🐾

When Brady Billhorn came to the University of Cincinnati, he came for co-op.

Between semesters, he worked near campus bussing tables and bartending to earn some extra cash. Coming full circle, his most recent co-op was at Buffalo Trace Distillery.

"I used to see the end result of drinks when I would bartend. Now I get to experience how they're made, distilled, and bottled."

Nearly a century after her graduation, the impact of Norma Wellman Cobb lives on through a scholarship fund supporting engineering and UC Lindner College of Business students.

Nearly 90 years after earning her degree from the University of Cincinnati, one alumna's influence is still opening doors.

Congratulations to our 2026 Protégé students!

Protégé is an undergraduate research program that gives outstanding first-year students the opportunity to work with leading CEAS research faculty in their labs during the summer after their first year. Protégé projects are important, large projects that work to advance the state of knowledge and/or understanding in a particular field. This year, projects spanned across five CEAS departments.
