Have you ever smelled milkweed flowers? They are one of my favorite smelling flowers, also hyacinths and jasmine. Do you stop and smell the flowers? What’s your favorite scent?

That’s a wrap on our summer camps! We are officially off until mid-August.
The school will remain open for Family Play on Tuesdays. Please email us with any questions.
As always, we are incredibly grateful for this life and for the opportunity to do work that we truly love. We believe these experiences leave a lasting impression on the children who spend their days with us.
Our hope is that years from now they will look back on their time in the forest with fond memories—of muddy trails, creek adventures, friendships, imagination, and freedom to just be. We hope they grow up wanting to protect our forests and natural spaces, and that they carry with them the understanding that life is richer when we intentionally unplug, slow down, and connect with both nature and one another.
Thank you to all of our camp families for sharing your children with us. We can't wait to see you again soon.

Today was one of those days I dream about as an outdoor educator.
We hiked back to the same creek we visited yesterday, but today we brought supplies—hemp twine, feathers, chalk, paint brushes, popsicle sticks—all natural materials that wouldn't leave litter behind in the creek.
The children dove right in. They crushed chalk, mixed it with water, and used it to paint the clay furniture they had made yesterday. Then the real magic began.
A fairy house appeared, complete with a playground and a pizza shop nearby. A little farther down the creek there was a clay factory, then a furniture factory, and before long an entire fairy village stretched along the water's edge.
They played for hours.
Six to ten years old. No screens. No instructions. Just imagination, collaboration, problem-solving, and pure joy.
Magical. Creative. Immersive.
It was such a gift to witness what happens when children are given time, space, and a beautiful place to dream together.

Day 1 of Camp B is complete.
I absolutely love spending time with the older kids. As we hiked down the trail today, an impromptu sing-along broke out, filling the forest with music and laughter. These moments always remind me how special is. I am so grateful to reconnect with my friends and make new ones.
We started fairy house building and decided tomorrow we'll really get creative.

There is something so fun about sharing the forest with our summer camp friends. Listening to the giggles as we slip and slide through muddy trails, watching children realize there are no rules about how muddy or wet you get — just permission to enjoy, explore, and fully embrace the moment. One of my favorite parts is having friends return year after year and getting to reconnect as they grow.
Day one of summer camp was a success.
