October is Manufacturing Month in Ohio, a statewide recognition of the industry's role in the economy and the skilled careers that keep it running. Our very own Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET) program created this sign standing next to Surge, 3D printed in sections and assembled around a plasma disc. It was modeled in Autodesk Inventor, the industry-standard CAD software taught in the program, then printed layer by layer in multiple colors using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). MET students learned concepts like geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). The whole project took about 6 hours of CAD and prototyping and 14 hours of printing.

The automotive industry is short about 37,000 trained technicians every year. Our students are getting ready to fill that gap. 🚗🔧 Earlier this month, Jeff Wyler Automotive Family donated a 2024 Honda Accord EX to the Kenwood Dealer Group School of Automotive Technology at Cincinnati State. As the newest car in our lab, students are now getting hands-on time with the advanced electronics and driver-assistance systems they'll be diagnosing on the job. Thank you to the Wyler team for hosting us in Milford and for betting on our students.! 💚
