Last week, our lab schools gathered at the garden for our annual butterfly release. We watched as the butterflies emerged in their own time, surrounded by students, guides, families, and neighbors who have shaped this school year.
Moments like these remind us what meaningful learning can look like when designed intentionally. Without prizes or manufactured novelty, children grow within community, participating in the world with curiosity, independence, and intrinsic motivation.
As we move into summer, our feed will grow quieter for a season. We’ll continue sharing occasional updates through stories, and we look forward to reconnecting after Labor Day.

Our Montessori preschool prep program serves as a meaningful orientation to our Montessori preschool environment. We're now enrolling for the August session!
Preschool Prep - Meridian Learning
Our Preschool Prep program is a three-week transition for children who will be new to Meridian Montessori and is designed to help ease the transition from home to school. This Teacher Appreciation Week, we’re grateful for our “guides on the side” who have helped shape this school year.
You won’t find them at a board in front of rows of desks. You’ll find them alongside children — observing, preparing, and guiding as learning unfolds.

Summer doesn’t need to be filled to be meaningful.
When children have time to move at their own pace, explore their interests, and experience unstructured days, independence and creativity begin to deepen.
A Child-Led Summer - Meridian Learning
As the school year comes to a close, many families begin thinking about what summer will hold. There are camps to consider, programs to enroll in, and a growing sense that these months should be used intentionally. Alongside that, the end of the year often brings performances, celebrations, and fina...

PHOTO SHARING UPDATE
Since our founding in 2009, we have maintained a private parent site where enrolled families can access photo albums and updates.
Going forward, student photos will be shared on our feed once a month. This approach continues our longstanding commitment to protecting children’s privacy, respecting their autonomy, and being thoughtful about how their images are shared in a rapidly changing digital world.
We will continue to share insights and program updates here. To learn more about our programs, please visit our website.

The elementary years, typically ages six through twelve, represent one of the most important of these stages. During this time, children move from hands-on exploration into a period defined by imagination, reasoning, and a growing interest in the wider world.
Continuing the Montessori Journey Into Elementary - Meridian Learning
Montessori education is designed around developmental stages, not grade levels. Maria Montessori described childhood as unfolding in “planes of development,” each with its own needs, rhythms, and ways of learning. The elementary years, typically ages six through twelve, represent one of the most...
