Oh the sweet sight of water being averted ...

Yesterday was the biggest challenge yet to our new flood management project that was completed last fall in partnership with Brian Lamar - Columbia Township Trustee, private partnerships, and many more partners (including GSCM parents who volunteered their time to help manage the project).

Check out the flood pictures on the left and the effectiveness of this major and successful project on the right!

Do you see your class? đź‘€

We’ve been looking back through some GSCM memories and found a few familiar faces.

Whether you spot yourself or not, we’d love to see you back on campus for our Alumni Cookout, a relaxed evening with burgers, hot dogs, and time to reconnect.

Karis Stoxen is a 2023 graduate of GSCM. During her time here, she was a natural born leader with an explorative mind and love of nature. She was a self-assured, confident, and kind student at GSCM--we were so lucky to have her in our community. We are so proud of the woman she is becoming at Roger Bacon High School! Congrats Karis!

Roger Bacon High School's annual end-of-year student recognition continues today as we celebrate our exceptional students for their accomplishments.

With over 25 years of service to Roger Bacon, including 17 as Principal, Fr. Andrew Fox was the embodiment of the spirit of Roger Bacon. The Fr. Andrew Fox Leadership Scholarship is presented to the junior students that represents discipline, dependability, integrity, and the pursuit of excellence. This year's recipient of the Fr. Andrew Fox Leadership Scholarship is Karis Stoxen. Karis attended grade school at The Good Shepherd Catholic Montessori.

Congratulations Karis!

As shared previously, Anne Marie Vega will be stepping down from her role as Principal of The Good Shepherd Catholic Montessori at the end of this school year. We want to take this opportunity to reflect with gratitude on her years of leadership and the impact she has had on our school community.

During her time at GSCM, Anne Marie has been a steady and thoughtful leader through some of the most defining moments in our school’s history. She guided the community through the transition from our founding leadership, led with care and resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic, and helped strengthen the model of leadership that supports our school today.

GSCM remained fully enrolled throughout her tenure, including during COVID, when the school stayed open and operating at full capacity. During that time, Anne Marie hired two full-time Montessori teachers and expanded Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, deepening its integration and presence on campus. Her leadership also secured more than $150,000 in safety grants and over $300,000 in COVID relief funds through careful coordination and persistence.

Much of Anne Marie’s work cannot be captured in a list of accomplishments. It lives in the daily rhythm of the school, in our classrooms, in our liturgies, and in the relationships she has built with students, families, faculty, and staff. Through her attention to liturgy and environment, she strengthened the spiritual character of the campus, while fostering a sense of welcome through countless small details. She sustained retreats for students and parents, and throughout it all, kept the development of the whole child at the center of her work. In doing so, she honored what this school was founded to be and carried it forward with care.

We are deeply grateful for her leadership and the foundation she leaves behind. While we will feel her absence, we support her in this next chapter and are confident she will continue to do great things. Please join us in thanking Anne Marie for all she has done. Keep her and our community in your prayers during this time.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Anne Marie and expressing your gratitude in person.

We would like to share an important update with our school community regarding leadership at The Good Shepherd Catholic Montessori.

With gratitude for her years of service, we are sharing that Anne Marie Vega has made the decision to step down from her role as Principal of GSCM at the end of this school year. We are deeply grateful for the care, dedication, and leadership she has offered to our school community over the past eight years and we ask for your prayers for her. Please look for another email from the school next week with an opportunity to celebrate Anne Marie and give thanks for her many years of service and leadership at GSCM.

As we look ahead, our focus remains on ensuring a smooth and thoughtful transition for our students, families, and staff. The search process for our next principal is already underway. The position has been posted, a search committee has been formed, and applications are actively being accepted and reviewed.

We are sharing this opportunity broadly throughout the Archdiocese and the wider Montessori community in an effort to identify strong mission-aligned candidates. If you know someone who may be a good fit for this role and for the mission of GSCM, we encourage you to share the opportunity with them. The full position description can be found here: https://gscmontessori.org/about/work-at-gscm/principal/

Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Deacon Nathan Beiersdorfer directly at [email protected].

We remain hopeful that we will identify a principal who can begin at the start of the next school year. At the same time, we are planning responsibly for all possibilities. If needed, we are open to engaging an interim principal to help support the administrative responsibilities of the school until a permanent principal is named.

In addition, we are currently interviewing search firms with expertise in Montessori school leadership searches should the initial phase of recruitment require additional support and resources.

Throughout this process, our commitment remains the same: to provide a faithful, joyful, and authentic Catholic Montessori education for the children and families entrusted to our care.

Thank you for your continued prayers, support, and confidence in our community during this transition!
