The Good News Call of the Day recipient for September 3rd is 8th grader Dominic H. Dominic took his time to help a student who needed technology assistance. It's not a surprise that an 8th grader is our first Good News Call of the Day this year, as we have heard great things about their leadership during the first week of school. Thank you for showing that St. Ignatius starts with I and ends with Us!

Fr. Umberg reminded us that God doesn’t need a cell phone to call us to holiness.

We ended our first school day with an All-School Mass. We prayed for our teachers, administration, and staff—that they will faithfully follow God’s call and lead our students toward holiness each and every day.

What a beautiful way to begin a new school year: rooted in faith, called to serve, and ready to Grow in Grace!

There were hugs and smiles, taller kids and maybe a little nervous energy, all surrounded by the promise of a fresh start and a year of Growing in Grace! 🌱

LET THE CHILDREN COME
Nervous anticipation is no doubt filling homes in the St. Ignatius community tonight. As the warm freedom of summer shifts to the changes of fall, the doors of St. Ignatius School will open to 1,177 Children of God in the morning. Are the kids ready? Are the parents ready? Is the staff ready? Will it all be okay? Consider the flowers.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew's Gospel that we aren't to worry, for if God cares so much about the flowers, imagine His love for us. A flower pot always welcomes visitors to our school, and the current arrangement has graced the entrance since the calm spring days of May. Since then, these flowers have thrived through the early summer days of June, the scorching heat of July, and the rain and winds of August. How? The staff of St. Ignatius has watered, sheltered, and cared for these flowers so that they might thrive in the good times and bad, when the weather was both bright in the sunlight and threatened by the scariest storms.

If the staff at St. Ignatius cares so much for our plants, imagine the love we have for the children. From welcoming the anxious preschooler to congratulating the graduating eigth grader, the staff at St. Ignatius School is here to meet the kids where they are, love them for who they are, and challenge them to be the best versions of themselves. When our doors open tomorrow to apprehensive kids who struggled to sleep and excited kids who can't wait to see their friends, those students will be greeted by staff who have prepared for weeks (months? years? lives?) to ensure they all feel safe and comfortable within our walls.

Maybe there's a nervous-cited kindergartner in your home with a backpack that seems so big for a kid who seems so small. Perhaps your timid fifth grader is ready to start school, but questions their ability to lead by example now that they are role models to the younger ones. Is there a chance that the parents are both ready for the kids to return to school but aren't ready for them to grow up?

Consider the flowers.
